Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but does anyone know of brands doing similar suits to Husbands? The stock situation is reaching the limits of my patience but i love the style...

Also, if anyone wants to get rid of some ferry/jarvis style suits and jackets in 48, or some straight/wide trousers in similar sizes, i might want to take them off you. Just a desperate heads up :')

I have been trying to find complementary brands for several years and have been, for the most part, unsuccessful. It is apparently very difficult for brands to do these kinds of 60s/70s/80s styles without them looking like Halloween costumes.

Hedi Slimane has done similar suits with flared trousers at Celine and Saint Laurent but in very slim/skinny cuts, so not particularly comparable. One Celine suit is also currently about 2.5x the price of a Husbands suit (in USD).

One brand I have been looking at recently is Ring Jacket's Napoli line - I have a shearling coat from them which I like very much, but they do not share the same cuts/appointments as Husbands on their suits - Most jackets are 3-roll-2 and most pants slim or straight. The cuts are also entirely geared towards a Japanese customer - boxier chests and shorter sleeves. The materials they use are on par with or superior to Husbands on paper (mink cashmere jackets, for example) but I've never personally handled them so I cant say for sure.

Here are the stores I can find that currently stock Husbands:

CANADA

SSENSE

UNITED KINGDOM

Matches

FRANCE

Boys Don't Cry - I picked up a couple suits from them back in 2020 and the same styles are still available, so I'm not sure if they still carry them.

Husbands (of course)

ITALY

Voga - only 1 style of an older model loafer available for several years so not sure if they still carry them

TAIWAN

Uncle Jude's - I purchased a belt from them, a seamless transaction

SOUTH KOREA

Random Walk - apparently didn't buy anything from the 09 collection

IAMSHOP - old stock, not sure if they still carry them

JAPAN

United Arrows - currently nothing in stock but I've seen them sell Husbands stuff within the past 6 months

Kink Nagoya

Mathematics Atsugi

L'ECHOPPE Aoyama

BAYCREWS / Edifice Shinjuku - same URL as L'ECHOPPE but a much smaller buy, they did however get some exclusive burgundy flared cords that I wish I knew about before they sold out in my size

There are hopefully more out there but these are the few I have come across in my search.

Husbands is easily my favorite brand and where 99% of my clothing purchases come from. The low stock is occasionally annoying, but knowing now that their collections start releasing around mid-April and mid-September, it is a little easier to prepare my wallet for.

if you don't want the narrow shoulder and instead a modern interpretation of 70s why not just Tom Ford in his most classic model (Windsor and its derivative), probably even more wearable than husband

p.s. pricing wise, eBay/poshmark/RealReal..., know your sizing though

Edit: husband has narrow shoulder TF doesn’t in case I sound confusing…

Thanks for all the resources! I'll check out the Ring Jacket Napoli line. SLP/Celine/Tom Ford was about what i had found, but its just out of my price range.

Yeah i was actually ready and saved up for this collection, but sadly the DB suits are just a bit too fashiony for me to regularly wear to work, and i can't do the pleated trousers on the single breasteds. Maybe i'm just too picky. I was actually ready to pull the trigger on the pewter grey trousers from the lookbook, but apparently they decided not to produce those.

I really wish they would add a few Ferry/Jarvis suits in basic colors to their classics line, i'd be all over that.

If you’re willing/able to pay their retail RTW prices, you should consider ordering MTO.

I am! I am actually waiting for an MTO blazer that i ordered in the beginning of May, but current MTO situation along with a few accidents mean that I'm not expecting it before January at the earliest. I also don't know my trouser size and there is not a single RTW pair of trousers available around my size that i can order and try for size. So atm I'm put off MTO because of the risk of 8+ months lead time, and the risk of having to sell the suit at a loss because of ill fitting trousers.

Essentially their offerings are great on paper, but the entry barriers are just so high. If I can figure out my trouser size somehow, and they get lead time down to a genuine 10 weeks I'll be a happy MTO customer too.

The trouser sizing is a little unconventional but once you figure it out it seems to be very consistent across their tailored models (can't speak to their denim).

In most brands I am a US 36R or EU 46 in jackets, but in Husbands I have to size up to a 48, which seems to be your size. In trousers I am usually a US 30 or EU 46. In Husbands I wear a 38 Fr. I initially purchased a Husbands size 48 suit, which comes with 40 Fr trousers -- those were definitely too large by around 3" in the waist, but because they came without rear pockets it was no problem to have them taken in that much. If you tell us your waist size we can probably help guide you to your Husbands size. Their MTO person also has been quite helpful (and communicates extremely well in English) if you haven't communicated with him.

Doesn't look like it. I should have gone for it with the release of the new collection I guess, but I was really holding out for those pewter grey ones that I actually wanted to keep

My issue is that my waist and hips are two different sizes, so sizing is really hard to get right for me just based on waist measurements.

For reference my best fitting pair of trousers have a 38-39cm waist laid flat, and sit on my actual waist with a 32cm rise. That seems to make my waist on the smaller side of EU 46. On the widest point on the hips they measure closer to 51-52cm, which seems to belong on EU 48 trousers, making sizing without trying on really difficult. If you have suggestions on a Husbands size that could realistically be tailored close to those proportions I'd love to hear it though.

I haven't talked about this with their MTO guy, because I think I'm just too scared to make such an expensive gamble, but maybe I should.

32cm rise, are you sure, rarely to see over 12.5in front rise pants these days.

In general I would fit the hip and as long as you're not taking in waist by more than 2in you should be ok.

now if you want to try on the smaller size, if you're EU46 and US30 I would guess their 38FR size would work, ask them to check hip measurement, and if you need to let out waist by 1 inch there should be enough (and I think I have seen odd number size on eBay so I assume that's do able too)

Yeah they're from Acne Studios a couple of years back. They definitely do some wilder proportions every once in a while. But yes, finding proper high waisted trousers without pleats has been impossible since then, apart from Husbands it seems.

I'll try to let them convince me it can be done once they figure out MTO production times, thanks a lot for the help!

The Husbands trouser sizing seems to be all over the place depending on where you look. Even on their own website they call a "EU 38" trouser a "US 28" but the EU 38 trouser has a 29.9" waist. The chart below is taken from this pair of trousers:

I am a true 30" waist and I wear the Husbands 38 size across three different tailored fits.

I don’t exactly know what cut I have but also 30 waist taking their “38” pants in in at least 2 different cut (might be 3 but at least 2)

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
