How many jeans do you cycle at once?

This is actually quite hilarious. I never thought what would happen if someone from outside just stumbled in on these conversations and noticed that almost everyone on this forum don't wash their jeans for extended periods of time. It is like a cognitive dissonance from both perspectives. Cuz, we are like, "Dude you don't know?" And they are just flabergasted that people would not wash their jeans for months on end. Cuz it really is quite unordinary and absurd at face value to not wash the jeans.

Look, I've been wearing cheap jeans since last November(As in $40 cheap, eww). I never really paid attention to it until recently when I suddenly developed this mindless obsession with nicer things and luxuries.

To answer the question shortly. The jeans fade with higher contrast if you don't wash the jeans a lot. This is an alternative to buying prefaded denim. There are more detailed answers if you read some of the other threads.

Wouldnt that damage the jeans structurally though? All those human oils, environmental grits and dust has to at least weaken the fibers microscopically. Or is this practice of stinking up only preffered for premium jeans(not hyped) which arguably are of a higher quality?

Click here for an example of jeans that were washed as little as possible. You'll notice there's a lot of contrast in the creased or worn-out areas. One's body heat, sweat and oils will slowly transform the jeans. Washing will fade the jeans evenly, whereas wearing it will fade it only in selected areas.

I have a couple of dress-up jeans that I want to keep looking neat and clean, so I wash those everytime they're worn. Then I have my project jeans, which I've bought in pristine condition (aka raw or one-wash) and I want to enjoy wearing them until they have that grungy, distressed and faded appeal... which is why I started this particular thread, to help me plan my attack on my project pairs

honeycombs are the fading patterns you see onthe back of the knee area of the jeans. the fading is crisscrossed, reminiscent of honeycombs.

The chemicals in your laundry detergent will do much more damage to the fibers than the natural oils from your body.

8 times in 1 year= 1 wash every 1.5 months. thats a pretty regular wash compared to what alot of people here would do.

Agreed. When I read his Eternals gig, I calmed down a bit and started washing my jeans more often (every once a month or so). Came out fine for me.. both my Nudies and 5EPs went no longer than 2 months in between washes. However, for other people who may get less wear in their jeans every day.. it is nice to go longer periods of time.

yeah... i cant imagine if i went 6 months. skateboarding in fl in the summer can make your jeans stink quick. also wears them quick. case in point: here is a pic of my 1 week old jeans that i skated in for about 6 hours total. no funny stuff here, this is all natural.

these will be washed in a month, and probably every month after.
