The annual family holiday taken in late July / early August is usually a beach bound affair in Greece or south/west France. There has never been a great accent on what to wear:
Daywear = swim wear + T shirt + sandals
Night wear = linen or cotton shirt/ polos tailored shorts/linen trousers + loafers and assorted deck shoes.
This year my 18 year old daughter has steered the family holiday (26th July) towards 5 days in New York.
So, what to wear?
I gather it will still be hot (very hot?)
My natural inclination is to smarten up for both day and night wear. However, I still want to feel relaxed enough to call it a holiday!
First visit to NYC.... so the days will be long and stereotypically 'tourist'... nights involve eating,a Broadway show or two and hopefully take in some live music.
Advice in terms of acceptability and climatic comfort first, sartorial considerations and dress codes a close second
Yours in anticipation,
Graham
