While stopped at a stop light earlier today, a truck driver who was stopped next to me said "nice coat", which reminded me once again the only place in the vastness of the Universe where people get bizarre (rather than nice) comments about what they are wearing is online.

The aforementioned "nice" jacket from Brooks Brothers, Brooks Brothers yellow and white University stripe OCBD shirt and repp tie, Hermes pocket square, Trafalgar alligator belt, Orvis cord trousers, Gold Toe argyle socks, and Allen-Edmonds khaki grain McTavishes.

A Piece-Of-A-Person picture.

I was going to post this question on the advice forum, but that all seems a bit different now under the new setup--hard to find a relevant thread.

Anyway, what say you gentlemen to earthtones this time of year? I suppose @Roycru's recent posting kinda answers my question, but still would be curious what y'all think.

As much of a classic and wardrobe necessity as the blue blazer may be, it has been quite difficult to thrift one that finally fit me and is of good quality. Let me explain: All of the second hand blue blazers I have seen so far were stiffly fused vintage atrocities in terylene, polyester, and sandpaper-rough wool blends in boxy cuts with ridiculous lapels. I have thrifted Brioni, Zegna, Caruso, Corneliani, Hermés, C&J, and much much more before finding this one, so I'm really happy about it. It's made by Pingvin (Penguin) of Sweden, it seems to have plenty of hand stitching, and the cut and fit is exactly what I'd be looking for when shopping for a current Italian coat. I particularly like the patch pockets, which have rolled edges with invisible stitches. A cool detail, I think. And it was dirt cheap, too. Cost me ten times the purchase price to have the sleeves taken down. Gotta learn to do it myself.

Just to be clear, I don't wear this Cappelli tie every day, but I do like it a lot. Here's the best model pose I could pull off today:
