Just wanted to write something since I always love it when people come here actually looking for improvement. But jcmeyer already said it all and I can just give a big +1 to all his comments. In general, try simple things first. Have a look at sebastian mcfox' fit below: very simple, but really good. Also note how his lapel is wider, his shirt collar points longer, more contrast between suit/shirt/tie, his ps fold better...

And a good, simple outfit.

Thanks to both of you for all your advice. The pants are a true black - Vintage wool item from a dept store. Has to be better than what's out and about today at a dept store. I'll have to google on where the jacket button should be based on my measurements. The shirt does have some grey stripes of different hues or sizes. I had no idea what "northern lights" was :/

The shoes are thrived Allen Edmonds and I knew they were more formal than the rest of my look. I'm travellong this week and brought what I thought was a good plan. ;) but now I am stuck with what I have until I return Friday. :/
I can't tell you what simply taking a few selfies does for me on how I perceive my appearance in my clothes. What I think looks good in my head looks wonky in pics. I guess the only upshot for me is (and this may be hard to believe) I'm dressed a lot better than anyone else in my company or my customers. I'll take a pic of what I am wearing today a bit later and again submit it to the group. If nothing else I'll be good for some humor.
(Hopefully all the pics stay hidden in this quote. Hard to figure this out on a phone )

^^ my 2 pairs of Meermin were quite fast (easy?) to break in. But I must admit that I do not have any experience with top tier shoe brands to compare.

I'm glad for you, but that was not my experience. I had a pair of suede oxfords that weren't terrible, but which were always a bit unforgiving. But I had a pair of calf oxfords that never broke in. I never got to the point where I could wear them without protecting my feet with a considerable amount of moleskin. Both pairs are long gone.

Interesting. My bluchers were very hard to put on at first, but they have softened up somewhat with use. They are still considerably more unforgiving than my other shoes. I assumed this is because the leather is grained.

I'm thinking of using leather softener on them.

New jacket - double breasted, half lined, perfect for the Indian summer we seem to be having. Hopefully the fit is as good as it seems to me.

Tried to compensate a little for the poor light, iPhone pics are the best I can do at the moment.

Pink + red/rust = not a good idea imo. Otherwise very nice.
