It's a very American look, but I think that tie would look great with a navy hopsack blazer, a plain light blue OCBD with plenty of roll, either tan chinos or grey trousers, and burgundy cordovan or brown leather loafers.

Thank you. That's roughly how I intend to wear it. I might do linen trousers and tan shoes, as well.

Also, your look today is very cool.

cool jacket, MF. i saw one in the RL store that was the same fabric, but in a regular cut SC. if not for the wool/linen, i would have robokopped. love it.

No need to apologize -- I appreciate the effort involved in writing a longer post, and I've had my fair share "eaten" by some finicky bit of the Internet.

I think the issue I ran into here is that I let this tie fool me into treating it as a quieter tie than it is. That green stripe pushes things out pretty far in a rig.
I think you mentioned on your Tumblr that it was a slubby raw silk, correct? If so, I think that texture (which didn't really come through in your pic) would help with the ties overall wearability.

Yeah. It's not as slubby as contemporary shantungs, but there are a few slubs in there that didn't come through particularly well. Oddly, the bottom end of the tie is relatively slubbier.

SteffenBP, I feel like the navy (great coat) and orange is such a strong color scheme that you don't really need to start throwing teal in there. I like the square on its own, but I think white linen could work really well, given the minimalism of the white shirt.

I'll say it again, Foxx, I think most of your jackets are too tight. That one looks too short as well, if that's an R opt for an L.

i quite like the teal square with that steffen combo. softens things up. plain white would be boring and perhaps "too formal" for the fun tie and something with orange like the tie might be too much "pop." i think the teal was a good medium.

pB - DC = washington DC, where rudals claims everyones jackets are too short.
