I think that we are both pulling these looks off. I also think both looks are elegant.

I once had a conversation here about African American style in the 80s and 90s. There was a huge emphasis on color coordination, pattern matching, and clean lines. If you had the Jordan Concords or Grapes, you had to wear that with a Charlotte Hornets hat. The matching is the point. The bright colors was the point. Some of us carry these notions into our classical menswear experience. It is understandably not appreciated by all.

I remember that conversation (in the Southern Trad thread maybe?) and I found it to be a fascinating point of view. It really helped provide me with context for appreciating your outfits more than I already did.

Like I said, like I said, I respect your choice to comment. Do as you like. Just saying, we are all entitled to do things other people don’t understand. I hope that we can all take other people’s desires at face value. If you think it’s impossible to wear this suit casually, I appreciate the feedback. Even if it’s not your favorite, can you imagine a way it could work?

I get we’re on a classical menswear forum so it’s not surprising my request to do something different might be meet with opposition, but one can hope.

This thread without comments would be just a gallery of pictures, not very helpful if you're trying to build a wardrobe and find your style, not to mention not in the spirit of a forum. I believe it's more fair and useful to say why you like or don't something rather than giving a thumbs up or putting a sad face.

I often commented on your posts because I mostly like your outfits and style, but, as I think, some genuine and constructive criticism belongs to a fair discussion, as well as praise and appreciation.

And after all you invited yourself for some thoughts asking "how'd I do?"

If you like that outfit, wear and enjoy it, it's just not my liking and I also suggested a different option, if you have to casualize the suit "at any costs".

By the way, your latest outfit looks great.

Wow Thanksgiving came back around fast eh?😁
It’s a lifestyle.

Edit: Today a student said, “I didn’t know you owned a black watch cardigan, Mr. Scott.” I changed her grade to an F. She clearly has poor logical reasoning skills. :rotflmao:

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
