At the place in Santa Monica CA where Wilshire Blvd begins on a very cold, damp (it rained later), and foggy Christmas Eve.

Here's something about the building in this picture for those of you who remember Lawrence Welk.

Dunn & Co Harris Tweed hacking jacket and vest, Hermes pocket square, Cutter & Buck OCBD shirt, Brooks Brothers British-American Chamber Of Commerce Christmas tie, Orvis corduroy trousers, and Allen-Edmonds shoes.

A poinsettia, a champagne cocktail, a turkey dinner, and me at Ye Olde King's Head in Santa Monica CA. I did not eat the broccoli. The only place broccoli belongs is in the credits of a James Bond film.

An actual Christmas Tree.

After taking a picture of Santa and me Santa's Little Helper (a subordinate Claus) took a picture of the three of us.

If you didn't have anything under your Christmas Tree this morning it might not have been because you were naughty.

Those weren't all drones people saw. At least one that wasn't a drone and Santa were involved in an accident.

I do indeed remember Lawrence Welk. Too "square" for me. My late uncle, a prominent local
dentist, who passed at 90 in 1989, was an avid fan. We kidded him about it.

Super square. I never understood the appeal of him or Hee-Haw.

He appealed to people of a certain age for whom Velveeta was an edible substance and for whom polyester double knit fabrics were viable for human habitation.

would be keen to hear if anyone has suggestions on knitwear colors that go with this brown/olive cord suit. I've settled on gray and black but would be happy to hear anyone's thoughts

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
