Funny you should bring that up. I noticed in the stair pics that gap looks huge. However I have pretty funky feet where the bottom back of my heel is very pronounced and then has a radical curve inwards as it rises to my ankle. The forward stance in the pic exaggerates this even more.Those shoes could not possibly fit you. There must be nearly an inch of gap behind your heel.
