Hi everyone,

Here is another review of some shoe repair work. One of my goals is to try different cobblers from across Canada.

In the past, I've used:

Laurent Halimi - Montreal
https://www.styleforum.net/threads/...ainer-in-montreal-quebec.528739/#post-9016516

Quick Cobbler - Vancouver
https://www.styleforum.net/threads/quick-cobbler-vancouver-canada.536847/

Bay Bloor Shoe Repair - Toronto
Just topy and new heels - https://www.styleforum.net/threads/toronto-cobblers.239806/page-5
Full recraft - https://www.styleforum.net/threads/toronto-cobblers.239806/page-6

So Dan Frappier is an award winning cobbler:

http://www.heelsnsoles.ca/

Given that he won an award competing against other cobblers worldwide, I've decided to give him a try. I did review some of his other work on his facebook page. The work all looks excellent.

So this is a pair of shell cordovan Allen Edmonds MacNeils. Need full recraft. Originally just new heels and maybe a topy, but decided to go whole hog.

Too expensive to send to AE from Canada.

A vintage pair of Florsheim made in Canada. Full recraft as well. Was thinking of doing a topy, but nah. Will ask for JR soles like AE MacNeils.

And then this pair of AE Cornwallis. I used rubber overshoes, and marked them up. I tried to remove marks myself. I've decided not to risk it and let an expert take care of the issue.

Hmm. Neither look overly worn; do pics not show how worn the soles actually are?

The AE MacNeils were bought used. So quite worn. The Florsheims are in ok shape, and have newer heels. I've decided just to recraft.

The JM soles came like that! Made in Italy so likely Blake welt. They have lasted me over 10 years so will keep.

Don’t think I'll be using an overshoe after seeing this! Thanks for the info...

I have used rubber overshoes for years on shoes of all colours. This is first time this has happened.

Do you think that the finish from a darker pair of shoes might have gotten on the overshoes, then transferred to the Carlyles?

Good question. I have no idea. It has never happened before.
