Where in the NE are you moving from, and what don't you like about it?

Other people can only give you their opinions, based on their own likes, dislikes and priorities. What are yours?

Yes - ugrad and work in NYC metro, moved out to the Bay Area for grad school and up to the PacNW for work stuff.

CA > NY > PacNW

Prepare to become an image-obsessed douche if you're moving to LA.

Having lived in both the L.A. and S.F. bay areas, nearly all of the brie-eating, wine-tasting, Volvo-driving, horn-honking, road-raging, dog-barking, image-obsessing, I-hate-my-life-and-it's-all-your-faulting, egomaniacing douchebags I've met have been in northern CA. For the most part people are much happier and more down-to-Earth in L.A. In the Bay Area everyone has something to prove.

Yes

Born, raised, and educated in Wisconsin
Moved to Texas 2 yrs after finishing college, never looked back.
Doubt I'll live here forever, but after 5 years I can say the move certainly accomplished my goals of "change of scenery" plus "find more attractive women".

yes, yes, ambigious, ambigious, ambigious, NO, NO, NO notice how he trends from SF to LA at the end? You've either not spent much time in either place, or you're misrepresenting. That's neither here nor there though as far as the thread is concerned... The gist from all posts thus far is to stay the **** away from LA.

I'm completely unqualified to weigh in. However, I must note the irony of "SUPEREGO" denying that SF is "I-hate-my-life-and-it's-all-your-faulting, egomaniacing douchebags." Anyway, carry on....

*smirk* misplaced irony, but similar sounding words anyway?

Atlanta -> Amstedam

Sold or gave away everything I couldnt fit into my car. Drove down to my parents place in Florida and consolidated everything into 2 suitcases and a carry on bag. Gave car to sister, got on a flight, and havent been back to Atlanta since then.

Best thing I ever did.

The fact that someone would apply the phrase "more down to earth" with L.A. makes me laugh hard.

That's been my experience after 15 years of living there, and 10 years living in the Bay Area. The Hollywood/aspiring actor set is a different matter, but they're a tiny minority of people in L.A.

More than just sound the same. The irony is there haha. You're not helping your case against egomaniacing douchebaggery.
