What the hell? I'm 5'9 150lbs right now and desperately trying to GAIN weight. I look like a stick. I can't imagine wanting to hit 130. At my current size I'm somewhere between a 36R and a 38R/38S. I need the narrower shoulders of the 36R but the chest is always a little too snug on me. I'd suggest just maintaining your current weight but toning up by working out. Also, avoiding carbs really helps keep away the beer gut look. Basically you should be eating lean meats, vegetables, and nuts. Despite what everyone says about whole grains being better than the more processed grains, it's mostly a myth. It's kind of like saying a Twix bar is healthier than a Snickers bar. Example glycemic index values: (how much they will spike your blood sugar) Sources vary on this a lot, but here's one site: Snickers Bar - 41 Wheat bread - 68 White bread - 70 Baguette - 95 (* these are really bad) As you can see, wheat and grains are generally VERY bad for your blood sugar levels, even compared to straight up candy. Also, while fruit is good for you, don't be fooled into thinking that it's not sugar. A few are particularly bad, such as pineapples and watermelon. My favorite veggie mix is broccoli, yellow squash, and carrots. For fruit, pears are very healthy. Vegetables that are surprisingly bad for you: potatoes & corn

hi, good advice here on weight. it's easy to become too focussed on these things. at your height 150 is a great, lean build. just work out, eat clean and you'll look fantastic. an h*&m slim fit is a terrific reward, i get lots of compliments on mine, more so than any of my much more expensive suits.
i think the coat is a little big on me, you're right, but i have broad shoulders and that's always the key to things fitting me. not sure what you are saying about the lining of the trousers?

I'm in the process of losing weight, and I guess to motivate myself further I want to buy a set of H&M Slim fit suit..

Right now I'm 150lbs, and I'm around 5'8-5'9. A Banana Republic sports coat in 38 size is a LITTLE bit big on me... and I wear Levi 511 32 waste (and im getting a little room in those too).

My goal is 130 lbs, when I reach, do you think I can fit into this suit? Thanks guys. Im thinking of 36 or 37 if they have it. I am really going for the snug/tight fitting Euro look...

and wow I've been doing some reading especially on the suits that are offered in Amazon and Ebay (G. Valentino, etc, etc) EXCELLENT information and community.

I share the same height and weight as you. To get ready for basic training 2 years ago I changed my diet and trained hard for 4 months. I dropped down to 135 lbs due to over training and not eating enough. I looked way to skinny. I'm back up to around 150 right now and I people tell me I look a lot better. Don't go to far with the weight lose

To the OP...

Rapid weight loss could be a shock to your body. Just be sure you check in with your physician for evaluation.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
