This is likely going to be more a photography challenge than a fit challenge.

I think it has already been established that great photography often plays a part in both thumb count in the WAYWRN thread, and in the FC's. OTOH, with B/W photography, I think you can get away with poorer picture quality, since it always looks a bit more "arty".

My thoughts precisely. This often seems to be the case in FCs. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Or is there?

Nothing wrong with that. To paraphrase @Claghorn, I'd rather look at a great pic of a mediocre fit, than a mediocre pic of a great fit.

I think this challenge is all about the fit. If your fit is off, its gonna look like crap regardless how well you've matched the patterns and etc.

Couple of pictures taken this evening, i don't know which one could be the best entry...

The first one is more artistic, with cinema reference

The other one is more traditional, it's about the outfit.

The second one kind of makes you look like you are getting ready to strangle your 7th hooker in 1976. I like it. No offense. Maybe I read too much Stephen King.

He writes about hooker stranglers? That's not whorer!

I agree. My lack of photography skill is one reason I post fewer pictures and do more general discussion.

True. I also think B&W photography adds a mix of opportunities and challenges. Some things like awesome in B&W and other things not so much. Lower contrast looks may be tougher to pull off in B&W.

I'm unsure if this will make things much easier or much harder.

Harder. I just went on my phone and altered a handful of pics to black and white and for the most part it takes away. Not because it highlights fit issues, but rather, if you are playing with color contrasts and subtle color and pattern matching, you are losing out when you go to black and white.

I think a simple fit with a darker suit, a crisp white shirt and a solid tie, will have the best shot here at looking great in black and white.

My thoughts precisely. This often seems to be the case in FCs. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Or is there?

I think for the vast vast majority, the best fit/entry wins the FC. Good photo or not. Just based of my personal recollection.

In any case, great idea, TV. You should submit and entry tho. :)

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
