Max understands and is exploiting a dumb set of rules to maximum advantage. I don’t like it, but I respect that he’s consolidating the marginal gains in a way that most other drivers don’t. Alonso is one who also pushes up to the limit. I think Lewis will occasionally do it, but it seems like it’s a last resort. Had he been savvier about these things in 2021, the result may have been different.

I saw an article about Alonso this week as he's about to have his 400th start. It really is amazing to me that he was in battles with Schumacher. That seems like so long ago and he's still racing. His WDC days are long past but the fact that he's still competitive is really something.

If you’d put him in the McLaren or Red Bull this year, I am confident he would be in contention for the title.

He was podiuming regularly not too long ago in a decent Aston Martin. And that car wasn’t favored against RBR and Ferrari.

Always thought he was a jerk. It’s entertaining how he went to AM and since then he’s trying so hard to be kinder, gentler, gracious team player Fernando. It’s like watching Homelander from the Boys pretending to be a nice guy every time he’s in public

Tom Clarkson interviewed him on Beyond the Grid. I was amused by how much he hates losing. He said if he lost a padel match to someone, he would not play them until he was confident he could beat them, and if he didn't think he could win, he'd never play them again. He also reminded me that Ron wasn't running McLaren when he signed for the second go-round, but he forced himself back in a couple of months after.

I suspect the kinder, gentler Fernando reflects a recognition that if he wants to stay involved in the sport after he retires, he can't burn this last bridge.

Well, he knows they're not going to dump the other driver.

All I keep hearing is how RBR can’t live without his Carlos Slim money and the rabid Mexican fan base he brings to the team.

But when is enough gonna be enough? He’s probably cost them the constructor’s championship this year

Carlos Slim can easily pay for any prize money shortfall

About got damn time he got punished for this. Let’s see what he and his b!tch boy Christian Horner have to say in the post-races.

Sainz was perfect.
