I was listening to the F1 Nation podcast on the way to work this morning, and Lawrence Baretto said that Mercedes had offered Lewis a one-year deal. He wanted three. The one+one was the compromise. Sounds like he jumped before he was pushed.

Rumor is that the current chairman of Mercedes Ola Källenius isn't really a big fan of motorsports so he shot down the 2+1 and ambassador role for Lewis's contract. All Toto could offer was the 1+1.

Seems similar to Renault/Alpine contract breakdown with Alonso - arguing over long term vs short term commitments minus the "Ambassador" role which no one should need a team's approval for. Oh right also minus getting it addressed a year in advance rather than mid-season.

What I read was Ferrari released their earnings report the same day the Lewis news broke so the jump in their stock price and the Lewis announcement were just a a coincidence.

And there are so many rumors about what Horner did that I’m not gonna believe anything until the facts are out, then MAYBE I’ll believe it all.

I mean this is the latest rumor, that Jos is behind leaking all of this….
