I'm necrobumping here, but from someone who is constantly searching for good flat waxed laces, I thought I'd share. These new ones from Statement Sholaces are right on the money. Good quality, looks, and the price seems reasonable. I just picked a bunch up for my Allen Edmonds and Aldens.

Have you received your order you said you placed? #1. You happy with the goods you received? #2. How do they look in your wide assortment of shoes? #3. What colours you liking in Walnut and some of your other leather colours?

Appreciate the update, before I go on a lace shopping-spree!

I am sure that many of you have found a solution, but I thought that I would mention that we also stock a large assortment of colored flat, waxed laces as well as some colored ribbon laces.

I did receive the order and am more than impressed. If you buy in packs of 2, they are $4 per pair which is a great deal. I bought the "brown" and "tan" colors. The laces aren't overly waxy, but have just enough to where they are nice and wiry. The cotton has some nap to it so there's no mistaking this for crappy polyester laces. I've been looking for a good source on these for a while so I stocked up. Here are photos of the laces and then the laces on some Allen Edmonds Leeds "Golden Brown CXL" leather:

I just wish they came in 54" length so I could use these on boots. I emailed them about this and they said they can do these in custom lengths with metal tips. But it does double the price per pair roughly...

Are there any shoes that are inappropriate for flat laces? Boots, maybe chukkas? I tried flat unwaxed laces on my 2 eyelet brown suede chukka boots and am ambivalent about the results.

I tried both shoelaceexpress and some on Amazon from TZ Laces Ltd and both were too thick for Alden boots. They're really hard to lace and pull tight.

Can anyone suggest where to get laces like these (Grenson Sharp)?

As for he thread, I actually was able to get two pairs of flat waxed laces directly from Wolverine. Just had to email their customer support and told them my 1000 Mile laces snapped and needed replacements. Was free, too.

Anyone know where i can get a pair of Alden milkshake Indy laces? Had only worn the boots a handful of times before the laces started fraying, took them out and found that a couple of eyelets on both boots were sharp and catching on the lace.

Sorry for bumping this thread

Does anyone know what size lace I need for a 5 eyelet oxford shoe?

If it helps, I typically do straight bar

Thanks!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
