Fit of Alden's Leydon last

Here is a question for the Alden experts.

The Leydon last is one of the few Alden lasts I have not had a chance to try yet. So far, of all the Alden lasts I have tried, the only ones that fit me are the Plaza and Copley lasts.

The Aberdeen and Hampton are too narrow in the toe box. The Barrie fits in the length and width. However, it feels a little too high in the arch area in the front to back direction, and feels like standing barefoot on a broom handle (The Plaza and Copley lasts don't have this issue).

So my question is how the Leydon last stacks up in the universe of Alden lasts. Does it have at least as much toe room as the Plaza last, or more or less toe room? Is the last relatively flat in the front to back direction, or does it have a little slope to it like the Barrie?

I am interesed in the 7117s and 7118s Moc Toe Blucher, and am trying to figure out if the Leydon last may be a viable option.

Your thoughts?

I hadn't heard of the Leydon last until now. Similar to you I can't wear the Aberdeen last but the Hampton is one of the best fitting for me.

I have the 7118S and also the 968 blucher (now discontinued) in the Leydon last. It has good toe room, not quite as much as the Barrie, but certainly more than the Aberdeen, and similar to the Hampton. It does not have the volume of the Barrie. The only thing I have noticed is that the vamp is a little tighter than the Barrie. I take a C width in the Barrie and Hampton, but the C width in the Leydons is just a little tight.

I don't really notice a slope in the last of either the Barrie or the Leydon. I find the Leydon last more comfortable than the Aberdeen and sleeker the Barrie. Only the Hampton last feels more comfortable to me. I would describe the Leydon as a "slimmed down" Barrie last.

I quite enjoy wearing the mocc toe bluchers and have even had the odd compliment regarding them. They are very versatile and, in my opinion, a great choice.

I personally got the same size in both, but that was a product of the unlined suede chukka. I suspect the Leydon last on a lined boot would be TTS.

Leydon has less toe room and for that, will probably look more sleek.

For me, 11m in Leydon (unlined chukka) versus 10.5m in Tru Balance (Indy boot).
The Leydon fits me pretty snug.

Hey guys - was just wondering if I could get some specific sizing help. I'm pretty much a standard US 9 EU42... I've got an option to get a pair of leydon last unlined chukkas in size 9E at a decent discount. I've heard a bit about the Leydon last fitting a bit narrow. Is that true? Do you think I'd be comfortable enough in the E width to justify buying them at a healthy discount? Thanks much for the help
