Hi All,

Wanted to get some feedback on my first bespoke suit and share my first bespoke suit experience. The final suit seems to have up fairly well in terms of quality, although I have never had a suit as "fitted" as this so I am not yet super comfortable when wearing it.

Results here: http://imgur.com/a/vX2Ml

Fitting:
I was traveling around China for three weeks and transiting through HK. I decided that it would be extremely difficult timing wise to do a suit in HK so I settled on China. Through my research a number of name's popped up including WW Chan, Dave's, Eleganza Uomo etc.

Based on reviews I decided to go to Eleganza Uomo because it was located in Maoming Lu Shanghai close to other tailors and I wanted more of a midpriced option for my first suit.
I walked in on the first day and told the guy the sales guy I was looking for a suit and he immediately began showing me Fabric in prices. In the end I go their "House" material as it was cheaper (4700 with 1 shirt) and I didn't feel any difference in quality. They asked me a few question about the style e.g. 2/3 button, lapel, fit at bottom of the pants. They got the tailor Raymond to measure me and told me to come back in 24hours.

2nd Fitting: Raymond once again took some notes and made some adjustments. I told them I want a modern slimmer fit and 2nd pair of pants which cost me an extra 30%. They told me to come back in 4days for another fitting.

3rd Fitting: Raymond wasn't there initially. When I tried everything on the suit jacket fit fairly well but the pants were as baggy as hell. Initially Steve the salesguy told me the fit was good and you wouldn't want to make any change. Fortunately Raymond came into the shop while I was trying the suit and made some adjustments which I was happy with.
I was to return to the shop in 3 days for the final fitting.

4th/Final Fitting: Raymond wasn't there but I tried on the completed suit. It was quite fitted but nothing seemed like it would cause a problem. So I packed it up and headed home.

Summary: I enjoyed the experience and I think the result turned out OK. I'm not sure if the suits too small or if used to wearing baggy suits and just being overly conscious.
I'm going to continue wearing the suit and see how it goes. Maybe make some adjustments for my next one.

Recommendations: If you do go to Eleganza Uomo try to get all your fitting with Raymond. The sales guys are nice but their sales guys. Also it may be worth trying to negotiating a package as I was offered a 2nd suit for half price at one stage

Thought, Comments, Questions welcome

I'm having trouble deciding if I'm looking at the suit at its best:

a) Is the suit all the way on? Did you shake yourself out a bit to make sure it's all settled where it should be?

b) Are your pants pulled up all the way?

c) Is the camera angle correct? Looks a bit low to me.

CunningSmeagol.

Thanks for your response

a) Yes I wore it all day and the photo should show the jacket settled. My posture might have been a little more erect that usual

b) Yes. Pants fitting around my waist. I think the length is good I'm not wearing sure in the photo

c) There photos were probably taken 1m off the ground which is relatively low. I can take some more shots if it helps.

If this is the result after 4 fittings, AND by their head tailor, then it would stay FAR FAR away.

The suit looks very bad

In my past experience, Raymond is a capable tailor. The final product does not look very good, though.

I had a suit made with their in house fabric (also my first order from them). I regret a lot. I should have paid a little more for a brand fabric.

Thanks All.

To avoid repeating the experience could you please point out some of the key adjustments in terms of fit you would make. or is it really just the material and overall quality.
