New member here. Recently purchased my first pair of "real" shoes, Allen Edmonds Strand in Bourbon. I've been a long time Ecco customer, mainly wearing slip ons or moccasin drivers with rubber soles. I work in a business casual environment (dress shirt, slacks, occasional blazer in the fall/winter) and only wear a suit a handful of times per year. I really like the Park Avenues as well but figured the Strand would be better suited for my everyday wardrobe.
I've always worn a 10 D so I went with that size here. The closest AE store is about a 90 minute drive so I ordered them online. Hard to believe there isn't a retailer in or near Raleigh NC. The fit is excellent everywhere except the top of my foot in the laces area. I don't know if tight is the right word but it's definitely snug. Can I expect a little bit of stretching here after the break in period? If I size up to an E width I'm concerned the fit won't be as good in the toe and heel areas as it is with the D width.
Really love the look of the shoe. I already want a pair of Allen Edmonds in black but since this is my first pair, will give it a few months to make sure this type of shoe is definitely for me.
