Hi, I have just bought a Filson bag from someone but can't seem to find any images of this model online. Does anyone else have this; or know the product name at all?
Any help would be appreciated! :)

This is called the Daypack.

The most underrated and under appreciated product that filson ever made and yet they discontinue it. The travel tray.
Any time i go out, I always take one. Can be folded flat and turn into a tray.

Also, fold in half and snap to create a protective, half-moon pocket.

With my 2nd hiatus from the forum this milestone took even longer, but that changes today. Post number 5,000 for me!! Since I started posting in August 2017 it only took me just under 4.5 years, whether or not that's a good thing is up for you to decide. As per tradition each thousand posts I pick a different avatar photo. I will admit this one hit me close to home, but thinking on it there really was no other photo I would have picked. Since I'm halfway to being called a Dinosaur on Styleforum, I figured I'd create a little montage of my avatars over the years. You're going to see a trend and given my name here it might be quite obvious.

Post: 0 - 1000. Found this on Bulgang & Sons, which is an incredible Filson and luxury brand reseller. Check out their website, it's pretty captivating.

OtterMeanGreen,

Congrats on 5K posts. You have helped identifying my bag a week ago, within your 3 posts, I have learned so much about Filson than any of millions GOOGLE searches. I learned about Motto tag, history of the company, how to date my bag, Bedrock era transition. I can't possibly get those from any search engine. Really appreciate your help !

and we need a photo to go with the post. The Filson bag with another American classic, my 1969 Corvette Stingray C3.

About a year or so ago, the Egan, MN outlet had a ton of them for very cheap. I called them (I live nowhere near there), and they sold me some over the phone and shipped them to me. Worth a try to ask them.

Last time I called Eagan to inquire about the travel trays, I was told they had sold out of them. Nonetheless, it may be still worth a phone call.

I have three of them. One just like yours with orange and tan. And two others - both in Navy - I've given one of them away but agree with you that, while they're just a small thing, they are one of those things that brings me joy when unpacking in a hotel room.

In fact, headed out tonight and will have one in use this evening.

Thanks!! It's not too often anymore where I get to stretch my legs and provide a well articulated response, I really do enjoy it. Between your post and the bloke asking about dating the Filson Garment labels I'm having an absolute ball lately. I'm happy to hear that my OCD ramblings have helped you learn a little about this truly astonishing and timeless brand.

Speaking of timeless, nice Vette!!! Fellow stick shift appreciator... :fonz:

My daily...no Filson though so not nearly as classy. Although I did just recently hit 165K with the original clutch.

Anyone have any experience with the "Compact Twill Briefcase"? I've only seen slight mention of it on this thread, years ago. I impulse-purchased one (it was 50% off MSRP) thinking I'd give it as a gift.

Rugged Twill Compact Briefcase (filson.com)

I have been using the older version since original purchase and can't speak enough about the daily utility value for a laptop, notebook/file folders, book, electronic accessories and a compressed midlayer if the need should arise. This has also served tirelessly slung onto the back of a roller and thrown under the seat for air travel around the world. Swapped the original strap for bridle leather as someone else mentioned. I haven't seen much commentary about this particular piece, but it serves well as a minimalist daily commuter if that's your need. Is it meant to be a weekender? Not at all, but if you're looking for something to tote your meaningful stuff around daily it won't let you down. No experience at all with the newer version; leather trolley strap looks like a nice touch but not a fan of the overt branding tag...

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
