This sounds very arrogant. Carmina doesn't owe you anything, and just because you have bought from them in the past does not mean that they should make exceptions for you. There was no actual GMTO going, (there weren't even 6 members in for it) plus Steve had said before that he didn't know if Carmina stocked the leather, but he had to confirm, its not like carmina led you on at all.

Also, you cannot just insult the company, come up with some oblique excuse, and then just say "i will leave it at that" like the matter is satisfied.

Wasn't involved with the original situation, but given these details, I have to agree. Disappointment? Totally understood. But insulting the company isn't called for.

What windbaggery.

That is exactly what I can do. Your acolyte and you who are so wrapped up with a brand that you feel entitled to make repeated personal attacks (stupid ones at that) have to live with what you believe is the grave injustice that I can choose to refuse to participate in your foolishness.

With what you have shown concerns you, and how you express it, you really belittle the meaning and origins of your screen name. You ought to change it to PizzaPizzaBJ (**? that sure is rich) because you act much more in line with Little Ceasar than Julius.

This has to be satire.

Well anyway the suede Carmina does stock is really A1 stuff.

Has anyone seen Carmina do a completely unlined, lightweight, but still goodyear welted suede shoe? -- i.e. not mocc stitched. I'm thinking an unlined three-eyelet dover with a single leather sole in navy suede, maybe with bright white stitching, for summer (maybe too late for this summer at this point). Alden does something similar to what I have in mind, but Camina's suede is much better stuff, and I prefer Carmina lasts.

Anyone seen Carmina do an unlined suede shoe?

it would be good to have unlined shoes. it could be blucher on detroit last. snuff or tobacco color )
and what do you think about mto for winter like - chukka, Model 000708-002/Model 000708T011, Last DETROIT, suede or Vegano calf but on gumlite sole? ))

I can't get behind anything on a gumlite sole, really. I have another model for winter in mind, actually: EP's Kudu Jumper in the following configuration:

Forest-lasted Kudu jumper, as above
Vibram sole
Storm welt
Fur lined

Carmina has done fur lined boots for other stockists. The configuration above would make the ultimate Goodyear winter boot, IMO.

How tight are you guys lacing your boots? I've literally never replaced a lace on any of the 4-5 pairs of boots I have with speedhooks, all of which I've worn for at least a year.

not tight at all. the hooks are so sharp they shave the laces down just pulling on them to tighten a little

I think every 2-3 wears I have to replace the laces. They are terrible. I tend to not wear my boots often due to the fact that I have to replace the laces so often. I want to see if I can have some removed, especially near the blind eyelets so I don't have to use them

Seems like I've been lucky. I have two pair of Carmina boots with speed hooks and I've never really ripped a pair. Just one pair got really beaten up from the speed hooks after using them throughout a whole winter, but not anything more than that.

Maybe try rubbing down the inside of the hooks with super fine grit sand paper?

This seems the sensible solution. My Carmina speed hooks are also sharper than my Alden speed hooks, but that's never stopped me from wearing them.
