Every picture you see paints it in a different light. The color is so diverse I have that exact make up and love it.

Does anyone have experience with the "Thames" sole?

How does it compare to Dainite or the the R1? I would guess it may not wear as hard as Dainite, but may be more comfortable. It looks a lot like Wensum, so maybe it wears harder than the R1?

I have these soles on a pair of AS. I really like them as they are very functional, especially in the rain and the slick marble floors at work afterwards. The sleek soles make them smarter than Dainite.

Yo
Dovers on the 606 last in UK8 seem to fit me like a dream but I usually wear a US9 and by all internet advice a UK8.5 should fit me as well. How does the 888 compare?
I tend to be an 8uk in the 606 F - though an 8.5E in the absence of the F. With the 606 the toe box is rather short, i find the 888 is the bettter last. I can get away with an 8E in the 888 (lacking the availability of 8F), but 8.5E is better (again, lacking 8F).
If your sole experience of the US sizing is Alden - as I know you wear Alden - do not allow it to influence your "US sizing", the Alden lasts vary too much to form an evidenced size.

Thanks for that. By a brannock device I was once measured to be 8.5d which led to a run of too small shoes so I usually go by 9d. Barrie last in 8.5d seem to fit well, vintage florsheims kenmoors in 9 are a tad big, Allen Edmonds 511 last fits perfectly in 9d. Hardly any experience with UK shoes though...

I'm a 8.5E, US, on the Barrie. However, D is usually all that's usually available and that is a reasonable fit.

888 is really a different shaped last. The best solution is to get fitted in person. From my experience, 888E and F both don't fit, so it's really not a last for me. The only way I learned was by trying them on.
