It's the Dark Oak all the way, it's just a different batch .. I had Dark Oak varying from Burnt Pine to almost dull Dark Brown ..

^^^^^^^ Agree. Dark Oak. Today's dark oak seems very dark by comparison, but it has varied over the years considerably.

Visited the mothership today in Northampton. Was looking for a casual shoe for summer with chinos or stone-colored linen pants...anyone think these will fit the bill? Or are they too daring for midtown Manhattan?

Loden suede Cardiffs.

Damm, its dangerous in here. :)
I bought my first pair of Edward Greens around September 2016, black Chelsea.
Just took delivery of a pair of Cardiff in chestnut Delapre with Danite soles, last month.
Already ordered a MTO pair of Hoves in a Dark Snuff suede with HAF soles last week.
Now I am dreaming of a pair of Sandringhams, Without the thistle in something, possibly burgandy

Took delivery on a MTO pair of Dukes yesterday. Dark brown Utah, with an R1 sole that has a layer or two of leather under it. That was designed to make them a little sturdier when walking over cobblestones.

I may have overshot the mark on the thickness front, as R1s seem stickier than the old Thames rubber, but these should be good go-to travel shoes. Easy at the airport (with or without TSA clearance), will go with most things that aren't suits, and will easily tolerate a bit of bad weather and more than a bit of walking.

When the time comes, I'll decide whether to keep the rubber bottoms or go over to single leather.

A little wear has clarified this without changing very much. The thicker soles have, for the most part, made them shoes to stand on and not be enveloped by. I am still not sure about the thickness of the sole. I wanted a hair more than the rubber alone, and they might have overshot by one layer of leather. These do insulate the feet better, although perhaps the better option for that kind of wear would be a derby so I could actually lace it tight. But break-in has loosened up the sole a bit, which makes the heel stay put more easily when walking. At the same time, the Utah leather is starting to shrink around my feet. It's still not quite so comfy as the C&J Harvards, whose light sole, strong grip on the Achilles tendon, and close fit around the instep and toes makes for an intoxicating comfort when walking-- albeit on smooth pavement! Still, it is not a complete miss.

It's a classic design, even when it doesn't shout "SF APPROVED!!"
