Does everyone here only take care of their shoes themselves? Anyone trust any local shoe shining "experts" to shine their shoes for them?

Well, you have to understand that most of us are nuts and treat shoes and boots like they're precious objects, rather than footwear.
At least 75% here have several shoes/boots that they've never worn and probably never will. :tinfoil:

I agree that many here amongst these threads are quite into the shoe scene...but I disagree as to the majority of us having shoes that are used as museum pieces....many serious hobbiests here of the exact opposite mind...Our shoes are to be worn & enjoyed..

75%? I can't even think of one member here who has several pairs of not only unworn but never-to-be-worn shoes.

My only unworn pairs are generally off-season arrivals that get put aside for half a year or so. But I buy all my shoes with the intent of wearing them, and wear them I do.

I have a hard time accepting that I am in the significant minority in this regard.

I typically wear the shoes the same day they arrive

I have a couple of pairs of that I have yet to where however this is due to last/fit issues. Eventually the shoes will degrade anyway it reminds me of an article i read on the life of a tire. Just because they have 20k miles on them doesn't mean they don't need replaced if they're older than 6 years or so depending on climate and driving habits. Same can be said for shoes.

I have 2 pairs that just don't fit, even though I like to think they do.

I'll be putting them up on BST in the next few weeks, I can't bear to think of fine shoes not getting worn.

I do most of my own but I do trust @jokb to shine several pairs. He's an expert without the quotation marks. I find it super-easy to maintain the finish on shoes and boots he has shined up for me over a very long time. His recent work in buffing up some Galways and two pairs of Vass:
