Thanks guys, appreciated. Those Hoves don’t get much wear but I should change that.

FYI, the trousers are Minnis ochre flannel from Spier & Mackay. Maybe not the most versatile color, but they’re a very warm and comfortable pair of trousers.

I have the Hove in chestnut calf 202 last, but am retired so generally only wear very casual trousers, but still enjoy wearing Hove with jeans/chinos etc. it’s a very versatile shoe.

Yeah, both are Rosewood. I wear my boots in snow and rain, so this is the way the leather really ages over time.

As for your other comment, wanting these in 303 in rosewood, as of right now that's not an option. I was lucky enough to sneak through a pair with Stefan, because the factory was giving him an apology for having to cancel an order on a bunch of people. But it's definitely my favorite last, and it feels like they are making a shift over to it for a lot of stock models, so maybe they'll have this as stock in the next couple of years.
They look great like that I think. Any idea how the 72 last compares to the 303 and 64? It's hard to keep them straight, I wish it was easier to see them in direct comparison.

I had Galway on 64 last but sold it as the last wasn’t for me. Too short, heel too loose and toe box not deep enough albeit a nice broad shape. The 72 last is more shapely and deeper in the toe box with a better fitting heel (for me) and the 303 has the deeper toe box but also broader than the 72 last. I love both lasts but the 303 is my most comfortable.

So after the 64, the 303 is the roundest / chunkiest / most boot like last?

Beautiful shoe. I like how it isn’t too strongly burnished/ antiqued. I’m hoping for similar results on a Wigmore chestnut calf MTO recently submitted. I did a Hove MTO in tobacco suede before Christmas.

You can ask for no burnishing/antiquing. I did years ago for a MTO pair of Dover in Bauxite Calf on the 505 last, which unfortunately I don't have any longer.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
