Hi all, I’m looking to get a new suit and found these two off eBay. I’m not that knowledgeable on tailoring, are these current cuts? I’m 6’2” 200 lbs athletic build so looking for something not too boxy/not cut for the “average” American. What do you think of these two options?

I'll let others comment on the style, but unless you're familiar with the particular maker and sizing, keep in mind the return policy. One of the suits you linked does not accept returns, so you might be stuck eating it or reselling it if it doesn't work out. The same one also has surgeon's cuffs, so consider the sleeve length limitation as well.

I confirmed with both they’d let me return. Anyone else have input on which one I should target?

echoing @onemoretime here—buying used suits online is a crapshoot even when you know your measurements unless you are familiar with the maker and model. Even then the suit may have been altered.
In this case be sure you know your measurements. The second suit has a 38” trouser waist — bear in mind that it may not be possible to take the waist enough for it to fit you. What is your waist size (your true waist diameter, not your typical trouser size because of vanity sizing)? The jacket will probably also have a correspondingly large waist that will need to be taken in considerably.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
