Ebay is 1/100 of what it was just a few years ago. Nice job Meg Whitman. Selection is pathetic and prices are often retail. Because sellers loose so much by using Ebay and PayPal they jack their prices up.

I still think there is a good selection of mid-range English shoes. Greson seems readily available, and some mainline Crockett & Jones. Beyond that, I occasionally see nice items, but generally not cheaper that can be found from trusted sellers like ehaberdasher, Virtual Clotheshorse, and Shop the Finest. I get more and more of my clothes from them.

I found my Allen Edmonds on Ebay and couldn't be happier.

I'm not in the market for much, though.

I too, as a seller am noticing it's harder to move stuff. I don't know why. I had two identical Paul Smith sportcoats in the same size even. A year ago one sold for $130. This year (last week) it got one bid, $9.99. What the hell?!

eBay isn't being very seller friendly either. I've had to switch to using my wife's account to do my weekly selling because eBay thought it'd be fun to put a "selling limit" on my account. They said it's at complete random and only for sellers who don't sell much. I've been actively listing for the past 3-4 years and have been selling overall since 2000. This is ridiculous!

I've done well lately, just found some Church Grafton's that look great in the exact size and color I'd tried on earlier in the week for a small fraction of the $670 they were asking.

. Used but in good shape. Also got some new AE Moras and Tautons for about $100 a pair after the 30% off from live.com.

Not so much for clothes, but very happy with shoes lately.

Hmmmmm. I kinda like eBay. Last night I bought a pair of sharkskin Allen Edmonds in my size (10.5 3E), out-of-print and used of course, for $79. Wow, I'm thinking, where could I have possibly gone for something like that locally, or in your town even, or in the whole f***ing country?

In three years of weekly searching, I've only rarely seen a decent suit in my size at a price less than I could get it for at an outlet store or sale--and those few occasions were usually SF members.

On the 3-4 occasions which I bought "guaranteed" "first-quality," "NIB" shoes from sellers w/ 99%+ ratings, each pair was severly worn, scuffed, or defective. (Got my $ back each time, but still.) Between the AE outlets and various sales at the reputable online retailers, I can usually get what I want eventually for not much more than the ebay price w/ out having to worry about returns.

And there's so many dodgy listings that it takes the fun out.

if 10.5 3E is your size, there are quite a few interesting custom orders for the cambridge model from the company ebay seller on ebay. i was kind of annoyed they weren't in my size.

they look like very good deals, especially with those redenbach soles.

I think I was looking at this blazer, I was shocked at the price too. Was it a striped one, 42r? Sorry man, I was seriously going to bid on it but sometimes I lose track when auctions end, it's a hassle. Maybe I should invest in one of those sniping programs.

Yes. I saw them. Something similar came forth from the eBay Allen Edmonds store mid summer and I bought two pair: a Cambridge spectator like that now being offered and a Cambridge in suede. Question: Both had Shell Cordovan stamped on the sole (though this wasn't mentioned in the offering) and one, the spectator, said cordovan on the box. 'Splain this to me someone.

I gave up on ebay long ago for clothes. Too many bad experiences to count. Just in general, it's depressing for me to think about how hard it is to find something I like. Even when I want to go out and spend money, 9 times out of 10, I scour the city and come home empty handed. The other half of the time when I find something I like, I just can't afford it. Damn you for introducing me to this lifestyle SF! I was happy with my Kenneth Cole polyester pants and Aldo shoes!!!

Shell cordovan is very expensive leather taken from the horse's butt. Difficult to work with, rich color, good in the rain. Shell cordovan AEs are usually $200 more than calf models.
