Has anyone ever purchased any shirts from Lugo in NYC??? I read about them in a few articles as well as video about them on GQ. Their shirts look of a very high quality and I really like their patterns and color combos. I'm thinking of heading up to NYC in a few weeks to check out their store and already have myself set on a couple. So are they worth the price of $150+ per shirt???

Thanks,
Peter

never heard of Lugo but if you are coming to NYC and planning on using a shirtmaker, at that price range it would be hard to go wrong with member shirtmaven (Cego), a known quantity on the various fora.

I bought 1 shirt from them last fall. It will likely be my last, mainly due to price. The fabric is generally very nice and the collars are excellent. Buttons are nice, but are certainly far from my Borrelli shirts.

Fit wise, the sleeves on a 14.5 were enormously long, had to get them tailored quite a bit and I usually buy a 33" sleeve. Also, they're pretty billowy, I laid my Lugo shirt flat on top of a Brooks Brothers "slim fit" (which, as we know, isn't slim at all) and the two lined up pretty much seam by seam. I had to get the body and sleeves tailored to give it a slimmer fit. Added $50 to the original tag.

I mean I really like the shirt and they have some excellent colors and patterns. But $150 is for like a basic white, most shirts are around $200. As others have mentioned, you can get quite a nice shirt from CEGO for less money and a custom fit.

Way overpriced. When I visited the store, I told my wife it will shut down within a year. Six months later... guess what

Yes. Any other outcome would have been surprising. Good location though if you're looking to take over the lease.

I just called the phone # and was informed that the company/business still does exist, however not in a retail store capacity. If you would like to buy their shirts/products one can do so over the website.

Well I haven't seen a new location. Haven't walked by in a few weeks but when they closed, there was no front sign, just an empty store with a "for lease" sign. There's quite a few of these around these days unfortunately

I haven't seen a new location either, just the big cafe thing. I walked by a while ago and they had a sign on the door, I doubt it'd be there now. A shame as it is unfortunate with the number of stores closing these days.

I can't imagine their website idea being much more successful.

I'll second the suggestion you check out cego. At that price point you'll have a bunch of options and Carl makes a very nice shirt

Bought a test shirt last fall (16.5/42). Way overpriced for a machine-made; stitching loosened in a couple areas on seams; fabric OK but in no way comparable to any of the Borrelli, Barba, Finamore, etc you can get for the same price. Did like the collar style, but the two-button cuff diameter was ridiculously small. Would not repeat.

I have a few shirts. THe material is nice and I like the collars too. THe arm length was perfect (usually a 34) and I found the fit to be perfect for me. I was informed that the store did close but they still sell merchandise out of the Abstract store, which I guess is next door, and someplace in LA, I don't remember. I guess they have an inventory for internet purchases as well.
