Yes. Covering the arse is a good rule. However, I've found that a better one, especially for DB jackets, is the hem of the jacket should end between the first and second thumb joints. I can't tell from your pictures if that's the case because your right hand is folded behind you and the left hand is holding the phone.

If your arms are really short, then it needs to end beyond the second thumb joint.

If you look at the other pictures above you'll find that's usually the case. For some reason that proportion is generally pleasing to the eye.

A bit more waist suppression would also enhance the shape, but not too much so that you keep the Armani style.

You might want to ask the tailor to pin it up a bit and see how it looks.

I love the sleazy look! You've inspired me to make one this year.
I tend to like the "jacket length is halfway between collar and floor" suggestion as I think that makes for good proportions, and you can go a little shorter or longer depending on taste and style.

Agree with @TheSuitBurnsBetter here. Arms/fingers/thumbs not always the best gauge to determine body/torso/leg proportions. Depending on height and arm length can easily lead to off proportions

Jacket length halfway between collar and floor is much better

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
