Does anyone actually wear shoes like this?

I don't particularly care if they don't pass SF muster, I like them, I bought them. They're called Chukkamoks because the name builds off the original Amok Chukka boots. Best name? Nope. But really, would Longwing Chukka ala Alden's Plain Toe Blucher nomenclature really be a better name? How inventive. Yeah, I want my car to be named the Fastback Sedan, and my Kleenex to be called the Sperm and Nonsense Wipes.

I don't like Alden's nomenclature either.

I would much prefer a simple name based on a wealthy North American enclave (Westchester, Kenilworth, etc) or a NYC street. Is that too much to ask?

Or at least wealthy European enclaves (St. Ives, Biarritz, Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, St. Tropez) or famous persons long past (Barclay, Hilton, Astaire, Bowlly, Colcutt, Carnegie). What has this world come to.

I still have a pair of AE Saratogas. And used to wear AE Vikings.
Both of which are in infinitly better ( SF approved) taste than the
examples shown above. Perhaps two lines of shoes
can be named for famous race tracks, e.g. Saratoga, Belmont,
Epsom, Longchamps, etc.
or Barbarian Raiders, eg. Viking, Vandal, Hun, Tatar, etc..
As for the current design team at AE, they deserve defenestration.

I actually don't mind the Chukkas that much, even though I wouldn't consider myself fashion forward in the slightest. I guess it's because I never liked plain chukkas - they always seemed like smooth bags over one's feet, as they lack the structure of a more formal shoe; so I actually don't mind the wings as a sort of framing device, lending it some structure.

With a suit? Hell no. With a SC? probably not. But I'd wear them for casual wear, as I appreciate their aesthetics on their own (and when the upper bits are hidden).

But yeah, I would rather they did not have that brick red sole. Maybe I'll paint it or something.
