I launder and press my own shirts. I'm still working on my system. I have a top-loading washing machine, which I have heard is rough on clothes. I tried handwashing but found it too time-consuming and it didn't get my shirts as fresh as the washing machine.

Putting them on plastic hangers and waiting till they are damp is best, but using the steam button on my iron and spraying with a light mist works well, too.

I spend only a few minutes (10 or so) on each shirt, while watching TV or listening to music. I don't really care if it's perfect. One thing I have found is that the sleeves wrinkle the easiest, so it's best to do those last and then immediately hang the shirt up.

I do, sometimes. Depends on the weather and how much I go outside. Since I live in a dry climate, I sweat less. Also, I found that I don't get armpit stains since I stopped using anti-perspirants.

How do you get the Wrinkle and creases out of Wool trousers?

I've tried ironing them while spraying some water on them. I've tried putting them in the shower and letting the steam get them. Nothing is working.

I hate taking my clothes to the cleaners because of all the chemicals.

Another thought on the order in which the individual parts of the shirts are ironed:
I take the order presented in Bernhard Roetzels "The Gentleman" which is

arms + respective cuff
back
collar
right front
left front

this makes sense to me since the arms are the part which is most likely to wrinkle so it doesn't make sense to have them in perfect condition, the same applies to the back. The front is least likely to wrinkle plus it's the part of the shirt which is always visible (apart from cuffs and collar of course, but they don't wrinkle easily anyway, so you don't need to pay special attention to them).
It takes me slightly more than 10 minutes to iron a damp shirt perfectly.
