my friend corrected my saying of acrylamide in a casual conversation

people say amide different ways

A friend of mine pointed out it's espresso, not "expresso". He was not amused by my proof that it's in the dictionary as well.

Reminds me of the rare occasions when I stop in Starbucks for a coffee only to be corrected by the clerk that the size I ask for is called a Grande.

You had a casual conversation about acrylamide? (I say it uh-krill-uh-my-d, how do you say it?) That reminds me of the debate about the pronunciation of apoptosis.

I literally got into a fist fight with my older brother.
