I want to buy a lightly used Hickey Freeman Madison that was taken in so much that it now fits one size down(42 to 40). An unaltered Madison is usually 22-22.5" in the chest and ~21" in the waist. I normally wear coats with more suppression. For example, my RLBL is 21.5" in the chest and 20" in the waist, fitting with no wrinkles in the front or tightness in the back. My 1818 Regent also fits quite well, with a 22" chest(never felt a need to get it taken in - not worth the $) and a 20.25" waist.
My question is, would a tailor that works out of her house(according to the seller) have cut the excess fabric? It was taken in quite a bit when the seller's son requested the alterations. The Chest is 20.5" and the the waist is 19.25". He used the AAAC method like I do. It's definitely tagged as a 42. Would it be possible to let out and look great on me? It'll cost very little to buy the suit.
