tbh, I don't get a lot of jokes, but like them anyway, and figure them out later. It reminds me of being in France and especially Spain and laughing at jokes where I've missed a critical 1/4 of the words, including the punchline. Good times.

Minimalism right now is having a way bigger moment than maximalism.

Yea, that university stuff made no sense.

I thought it was a interesting play to go the eye-screaming colors and logo route that Gucci is minting money from but actually in an organically American way. The whole using graphic design from commercial pop culture to sell your high end brand is tapped out, but nobody has fully mined collegiate/sport design in that way yet in the high end space. What's more logo obsessed than alma mater/home team apparel? It might not make sense given the legacy of CK but those hangups didn't stop Balenciaga from making money last year.

Tbh I thought it was a cool gamble. Only Americans are this hung up over what university imagery means and if it has prep baggage. To asian consumers (who everyone is playing for) this is all just more recognizable luxury branding.

This can work from time to time in Scandinavia as well(small insignificant market, I know). Sweaters with college logos have been trendy from time to time. Actually stopped me from wearing any of my genuine gear when I moved home again.

Seemingly inevitable after Josh Peskowitz announced he took a job back in NYC and they had a 75% off sale last week. They carried a very appealing mix of brands with cool buys that was very much up my alley but the lack of any real ecomm made them basically something I just observed enviously via IG. I did buy three of their self branded plain pocket tees which are the best tees I own.

Their IG looks better than their actual in-store experience. I dropped in last fall while visiting family in LA, and the buys are stuck in that in-between space between "Mr Porter transition from day to night, board room to the bar vibes" and "completely avant garde," which, aside from NMWA, I have not really seen any another store really get it right. I just did not get Magasin's point of view, if it ever had one.
