Intended for gaining some age or...?


Depends on how long you are thinking to age it. It surely will get better within the next four or five years but I would buy something like the Volz, Gottesfuss or Scharzhofberger P. for real aging potential (2011 seem to become one of the years for the Saar region). That being said, I recently had a bottle of 2002 Saar Riesling which was still in good condition, although not as good as it would have been in, say, 2006.

Most Orin Swift wines fit this bill for me, especially Prisoner and D66.

My new favorite is 2011 Cupcake Red Velvet.

I find that for me, the wines I like have an almost, "silky" texture to them.

Good idea!

Not my picture, but we enjoyed a fair amount of this over the holidays. I'd say it was finely balanced, well suited to food and judging by the quantities our guests consumed, eminently delicious: 2009 Leflaive Macon-Verze... about $30
