There are 2 other shoe friends who will be in the area. So we can hit some thrift stores, grab a bite and drink... it will be epic.

That sounds like a lot of fun! Well I know you and I have different shoe sizes, so we won't be stepping on any toes...so to speak. Make sure not to invite any other 10.5EEE or 11E people. :p

The rule for thrift store visits - a game of rock paper scissors to determine who grabs the good pairs for flipping.

Person with the most finds buys drinks.

I'll leave the flipping game to those who know how - so long as I get to buy any good ones that actually fit my big ole feet!!! (This approach usually guarantees I leave a thrift store empty-handed...but also maintains a measure of domestic peace. Still waiting to land a great pair for myself through thrifting. Ebay has been much, much more kind to me - albeit more expensive.)

If you are in Vancouver in September and you have a few mins to spare, PM me and we can meet up for a coffee, pint, or somesuch. I'll wear McHales...and I won't be wearing lululemon...so you will know it is me when you see me...:-D
I'll be in Van in July. What's this HD Russel you're talking about?

Boot maker. Made in Vancouver.

Been living in Vancouver for decades. Been really into boots for about 2 years (Vibergs, Whites, Canada West, etc.) Never heard of these guys until now.

They opened during the pandemic. The owner used to work for Dayton (I believe). We definitely need to check them out when I visit.

Hi all! I have been collecting shoes for over a year now and wanted to share what I have so far as well as see if anyone is able to share their wisdom with me.

I have an interest in Canadian shoe brands, particularly Dack’s! Is there any resources online that would help me spot Dack’s in the wild as well as how to identify era, etc.? Any information would be much appreciated!

Here’s what I have so far!

I think you stumbled onto the ultimate resource: this thread!
Ask away if there are any questions as there's a wealth of knowledge in these pages and the users.

Nice collection!
Keep hitting the stores and you'll definitely run into some Dack's. i think i see them almost every time i'm at the thrift, albeit some in atrocious condition
Scour online as well
[insert cheap plug] some folks in this thread are known to sell them as well ;)

Provincial election today.

So I'm being patriotic by wearing Florsheim LWBs by McHale.

$20.00 Cdn, offered $10.00 cause that's all I had on me at the time, cash only local Church "yard sale" type of thing East end of Toronto.

Florsheim Imperial Shell Cordovan 93605 (assuming these are Canadian), size 12D, my size couldn't believe it!!!!

Did some research, 85 brass nails, and these were allegedly called the, "suicide heel".

Cleaned them up with some Saphir Renovateur, then took them to the fantastic brothers at Toronto Fine Shoe Sales and Repair on Danforth and had a Toppy put on and some Brass front toe-caps put on to protect them further.

I figure these shoes sat in the box for 30+ years unworn...
