Didn't know where to procure them, the Tiffany is, after all, vintage, and since I have a r/s with my jeweler ...

They are made out of 12 CT gold but because there are certain portions where 9 CT was used, they had to inscribe 9 CT. 9 CT was also the original plan but at least 12 CT was required. I figured it would weather a fair share of knocks so I thought a harder metal might be ideal.

cufflinks do endure a fair share of wear - tougher the better

I have a set of cufflinks in the works and am quite excited about it.

Here's how one end of the cufflinks is gng to look like.

Minor difference is that I'm looking at a different way of anchoring the jade. Don't want those 'hooks'.

Will be made out of vermeil, Burmese Jade and diamonds.

Question: Should I have the other end of the cufflink made up such that both ends will look identical, OR have the end (WITHOUT the jade) terminate in a vermeil knot (looks like silk knots) that was cast after buttons used on traditional Chinese garments?

The other alternative is a plain rounded 'plate' that allows one to engrave one's initials.

Can they fashion you something that allows the outside parts to clip to a linkage between them. I have a set like that and they are much easier to use than big links that you have to put through the holes in the cuff.

You can see the joint in the linkage, that is actually a clip with an internal spring.

Anyone know where I could find some Dachshund(Wiener Dog)related cufflinks? They need to be pretty nice. Sterling silver would be best.

I just had a dream where all my cuff links had toggles—on both sides. How surreal and nightmarish—Kafkaesque, even.

A dachshund would make for a great double-sided cuff link, head on one side, rear on the other. Instead of a connecting bar it's just the dog's torso. It's perfect since it's such a tubular creature. If enough people think this is a good idea I'll go ahead and make it.

^ On ebay, I bid on a vintage example of that exact design done in gold. I've also seen reverse-painted intaglio crystal cufflinks that are double-sided with different views of the dachshund on either side.

I'm a dachshund owner and have a pair by Paul Smith. It's a copper dachshund with an old-school toggle back. I prefer double-sided links, but these were a gift.
