Hi-fi speaker options that aren't hideously ugly and obtrusive are hard to come by. I care about audio, but not as much as I do about aesthetics. We might install invisible behind-the-dry-wall speakers, but those are probably an even bigger compromise. Hard to find useful reviews.

For what it's worth, the company's fancier console has the turntable built in, and reviews seem to indicate they have successfully mitigate the vibration issue.

How important is the vibration thing anyway, outside of audiophile navel gazing?

I've seen DJ's playing on extremely bass-heavy systems using tennis balls to isolate their decks, it doesn't look like the built-in speakers are big enough to cause a decent turntable much of an issue.

Why not go with soapstone? In fact I don't think anyone has even mentioned it as an option for countertops which surprises me.

If you are doing any serious cooking, don't get Corian countertops. They are way too heat sensitive.
.

Bah. People need to be a little more careful cooking. Lots of sf horror stories of marble and corian.

I don't have a problem with marble, but I don't think Corian is fit for anything except bathroom counters. It is OK with a pan full of boiling water but you set down something fresh out of the oven at your peril. Sure, you can put down trivets, etc. but I have a lot more interesting things to be fussy about than my countertops. I'm not a big fan of Charvet ties for the same reason. And, unlike Charvet ties, Corian isn't even that visually stunning.

I like some muthafuckin peace and quiet in my house.

So much furniture discussion. Do you guys do indoor house plants? I've got a small rubber tree, and an orchid we've managed to keep very healthy. I'll put flowers in a vase in a few rooms a few times a month.

I've got all kinds of flowers and fruit trees and veggies and herbs/spices outside. It rocks as a hobby after 10 years in midtown.

I have two tropical bonsai that are indoor for 1/2 the year.

Charger and corian definitely appeal to different crowds.

A midsize palmtree in a corner and fresh tulips on the table weekly.

We have soapstone. You definitely have to be comfortable with some "patina," which we are, generally. Dings and scratches drive others nuts, which I understand.

Lol at that speaker console. The main problem for record players is vibration that affects sound reproduction. Why would anyone put a record player on top of the speakers that are designed to produce vibrations?
The second picture with a giant jawbone is even dumber than the first.

It would be fine for someone who stores their music digitally and uses a server.
