Have our first kid en route this summer and trying to make our small Philly apartment as efficient as possible. We'll use our second bedroom as the nursery - envisioning crib, glider, and dresser on one side of the room. We'd love to have a daybed on the other side of the room for a little extra sleep space if family is staying over.

Unfortunately, most options I've found online (Ikea's Hemnes as an example) have mixed reviews and concerns about supporting adult weights. Anyone have some compact options they used and liked previously? Storage would a great bonus.
Have you thought about a loft bed instead? I don’t think anyone actually wants to sleep on a daybed. Or maybe a sleeper sofa?

edit: I actually clicked the IKEA link and now see what you meant by daybed here. Some sort of convertible piece that opens up as a full bed. Seems like a good option too

Thanks. Main problem with these convertible options are all the ones I've found all have reviews suggesting the slats don't hold up to adult weights - I wonder if they're inherently designed for kids only.

But you're right, a compact sleeper sofa would be a good option too. I like this or this as tidy options but the dimensions are quite small - slightly bigger than a twin.

The Blu Dot "one night stand" model is pretty ingenious if you'd prefer to avoid classic pullout styles

A family member has that (or something that very similar) and it is incredibly uncomfortable to sleep on. Although it certainly looks nice.

Good to know ! (if that's the same one :) )

I have only laid down on a store model, which seemed fine - I never spent a night on one

@Samir We had this Bonaldo Pierrot futon in our office that worked out really well for our needs, which was just extra bed overflow when we needed more space than just the guest bedroom.

I think it solves two problems that a lot of these things run into. It looks and feels good as a sofa alone (in my eyes), which is what it primarily was for us, and then when it's folded down it's like a 25/75 split of soft sleeping area instead of down the middle, so the actual "sleeping area away from the middle seam" is bigger than what you get on ones that go halfway, where it feels like you're always feeling that crease when sleeping.

No storage though.

Anyone buy pool furniture (lounges) lately and have recs? In the northeast near the water - so weather / salt resistance and ability to stack for storage during the winter are priorities. We have a set of fermob luxemborg garden lounges that will likely end up at the pool so have been considering the fermob Alize, but not loving the price point given we’re looking at 6 lounges minimum.

we're refurnishing the master bedroom , working through drawer options ...

part of me would like to have 2 medium size chest of drawers instead of nightstands , or get one bigger cod and use smaller nightstands , we also have the typical built in closet and that hasn't been organized either . hm .

Given the model name, it's probably uncomfortable so a guest isn't tempted to stay longer than absolutely necessary.

Any suggestions for sources for pendant lamps? I'm currently looking at this and this but open to other suggestions for retailers.

Are you looking for a proper source of light or something softer for ambiance?

I've never been more enthralled with a lighting purchase than our Panton flowerpot pendant. The shape is perfect and the glow is beautiful. Highly recommend. But it doesn’t produce a ton of light
