I got the shoes from CT. They are made by Loake. Black monk is o.k. the leather is bit too hard for my taste. But still more elegant than most of shoes being sold in retail stores in Toronto. The brown calf cap toe is Loake 1881 line and it is nice. I really like it. Soft leather and hill is high, which I like. But compared to Grenson master piece, I think Grenson's quality is better than Loake 1881. Grenson's leather is much much softer. I cannot tell diff in construction since they both are good year welted, but the loake is not channelled. But I highly recommand Loake 1881 shoes to those who seek elegant quality english shoes at an effortable price.

Question, thinking about buying CT shirts. Who makes CT shirts? Is it made in England?

Thanks

CT shirts are made for the company overseas, probably in SE Asia. I have heard they are made in Thailand but there are probably several sources. The best British shirts are generally made in Northern Ireland, but the costs are higher resulting in a more expensive end product.

Can anyone comment on the CT sea island socks. (what shoe size do they comfortably fit?) I was thinking of getting a few pairs of the red.

Two years ago, I heard that Pantherella made CT's socks, so I bought several pair. Unfortunately, I found them much too short (lower than mid shin), so I sent them back.

Your mileage may vary.

They are made by Pantherella and are mid-calf length. They are extremely comfy. Being soft they may wear quicker than normal socks but mine are all doing fine. If you use the 50% off link (search this forum) they are eminently affordable.

I'm not crazy about CT shirts. They're the only shirts in my closet that consistently curl at the edge of the collar (even with stays). Other than that, a decently good value, but I wouldn't buy again.

It seems to depend on the line. I have two CT shirts, one a cutaway classic, the other a higher quality fabric, 140's I think. The cutaway was made in Romania; the second, made in Italy. I bought these back in June when it seems like they had 3-4 different quality (fabric) levels. The Classics have a white label, the 140's had a black label, and yes, I think there was a purple label, reserved for the shirts made in the UK. My experience so far has been good, but I haven't worn them often. They allow you to return the shirt 3 months after purchase, regardless of condition.

A colleague here called them and asked for fabric swatches. They sent a complete selection, along with a 50% off catalog. I'm sure they would be able to answer your question.
