Cesare Attolini Appreciation Thread

First time poster! Have dipped my toes into high end menswear recently and just received the first Attolini piece I’ve purchased, a cashmere sportscoat. Very impressed by the craftsmanship and material. No tailoring yet, but I think it needs to be taken in a bit - there’s some sagging in the middle of the back.

Show us the back maybe? It looks good from the front, I'd avoid taking the waist in personally based on this photo. I would shorten the sleeves though.

Agreed with shortening sleeves, and photos of the back would help.

Hopefully you have access to an alterations tailor who you could entrust a garment of this caliber to.

Thanks for the tip. Here’s a pic of the back. The “pooling” of fabric in the middle is not ideal but I’m not really sure what the solution would be. I’m a 42R in most jackets and this one is an EU54 so it’s definitely on the roomier side for me. But wow, I’m still in awe of the fabric and stitching.

Based on the photo the back looks pretty decent, IMHO. Looks like a bit of excess fabric in the low back/lumbar area, but again does not look excessive to me. If this was truly too roomy I would expect to see excess behind the arms near your lats. Attolini is typically cut pretty slim which may explain why a 54 isn't that far off for you.

Overall length looks good. How is the sleeve pitch based on the natural drape angle of your arms?

Do not take it in in the waist. It looks like you have some excessive length (not width) in the mid back because of your erect posture. Maybe a good tailor can shrink the cloth somewhat by ironing to clean it up.

I think the sleeve pitch is good. I attached a couple more pics in my last comment, including one of a slimmer fitting Boglioli jacket as a reference - the Attolini has some excess room in the front which is a reason I would consider taking it in a bit. But I think it does look quite good from the front. Appreciate everyone's insight here! Thanks, all.

Hello, everyone! I've recently acquired a Cesare Attolini suit in a very fine navy wool from a private seller (fits quite well).

I was wondering about the label: I know there's a difference between some of the older/newer model labels, but mine looks entirely different. There's only a small label with "I 48" printed on it, next to a tailor's label inside the pocket (unmarked). Is this a custom Attolini? Something else? There doesn't seem to be evidence of a label removal.

It's real. Attolini is not well know enough to be faked. I don't think it's a custom piece.

It's real. Attolini is not well know enough to be faked. I don't think it's a custom piece.

Good to know. Didn't think it was fake, but I wasn't sure about the age, etc.

And thanks! It's my only solid navy suit. Lovely, yet understated.
