Hi I am liking the look of Fioroni , the price is a bit top end for me E 830 for a nice half zip / E 995 for duvet on their website . Does anyone know of any cheaper places to purchase online ? (not ebay as I am wary re fakes) does anyone have any experience of their "normal" cashmere ? how would it compare to the cashmere ie own (lockie / malo /JoE) also with their duvet cashmere is it like a thicker ie 4 ply knit? many thanks in advance

Cashmere duvet is not especially thick but dense and tightly knit, smooth and silky.

I found Sobs in Cologne: https://www.sobs.de/Marken/Fioroni/?order=name-asc&p=2

You could consider gloves in shearling: I think that they are casual enough for your needs.
I’d agree with this. For particularly cold weather I have never found standalone or cashmere lined gloves to be particularly warm. I’ve found shearling gloves or sheep skin / rabbit fur lined gloves to be the best. Have a look at Hestra hand sewn in Hungary line or Merola made in Italy gloves.

Edinburgh has been on my bucket list for quite some time, so when I had the opportunity to go on a weekend trip last month I took it. Of course, I could not pass the opportunity to (finally) pay Hawico a visit. After trying on approximately half of the store, I settled on the Guido model in size 42 (which they referred to as S).
Less than a month later (! They told to expect it by the end of December) the sweater below arrived. The colour way is Noss/Pompeii (the same as on the website). I am particularly fond of the saddle shoulders and the herringbone pattern on the sleeves. Additionally, it feels quite heavy for a one-ply garment and is densely knitted with a dry hand feel. The chest comes in at ~52 cm.

To clarify, JoE was offering 30% off everything in one of their own stores? If so, I hope this sale makes it online as there are no JoE stores on my continent haha

Gorgeous piece btw

Thanks.

No, it was the KaDeWe store (a famous one in Berlin) offering the discount. JoE had something reduced online, but not much.

I'm looking to buy on of the Gran Sasso sweaters from vinted and sellers keep listing size 50 as L. Is this true or should I go for size 52?

Go for a size 52. Gran Sasso's 50 is definitely a medium.
Thank you! I was wondering if there's a difference between EU and IT sizes. Also, here's a Falconeri jacket where the IT size is 52 and the EU is marked as XL.

I have a Gran Sasso Cashmere/Wool/Silk blend if you're interested.

Also LuxeSwap had an awesome Attolini Duvet core navy crewneck yesterday. If I didn't already have a Duvet navy I would have swiped it!

Should I be sizing down in knitwear because of the stretch?

My t-shirts measure 59cm at the chest, but I just received a 58.5cm cashmere polo and it looks like it fits a little sloppy compared to my t-shirts (black t-shirt vs cream long sleeve polo sweater).

Maybe it’s a colour thing where darker colours look “cleaner” fitting?

Relative to cotton shirts? Absolutely. My RTW dress shirts measure around 114cm in the chest (57cm flat), and usually I go for knitwear that measure 51-53cm in the chest when flat.
I never knew this was the way to go. I typically like a relaxed fit, but when it comes to cashmere polos and the way they drape it seems to look a little too messy. I'll try sizing down, thank you

To add: May I ask if you size differently between something that you’ll wear against skin (polo shirt sweater) vs a quarter zip sweater for example you’d wear on top of a shirt (both cashmere)?

Generally I prefer a more fitted/snug feel so I take 51-52cm (chest size is around 100cm, maybe slightly less now) though I don't feel a very big difference going up to 53-54cm due to the stretchy nature of knitwear. My dress shirt sizing is much looser partly due to my posture being slightly straighter than most RTW shirts would accommodate, so they always feel tighter in the front chest and roomy in the back. If I were to do MTM/bespoke I probably wouldn't have 114cm chest on my shirts.

If it is a particularly hefty garment like chunky submariner turtleneck or shawl cardigan, I'd lean towards the slightly bigger size (though usually makers account for this and make these garments bigger than thinner garments in the same size label).

Nothing beats trying things on, not least due to inconsistent sizing and manufacturing tolerances. I'd advise to go with the largest size you can wear without it getting too sloppy or oversized for your tastes. If you go with the smallest size you can fit into, you're more likely to end up with something too tight.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
