This is lovely! I'm interested in getting this but was wondering if you know what the official colour is? On the boutique's website you got yours from the colour is described as 'beige'. However, the 'beige' on the Gran Sasso and Ferner Jacobsen websites looks like an entirely different colour.

Gran Sasso: https://www.gransasso.it/en/POLO-SKIPPER-IN-MAGLIA-PUNTO-PERLA-12021

Ferner Jacobsen: https://www.fernerjacobsen.no/herre...alf-zip/rib-sweater-skipper-collar-wool-white

British Clothing: https://british-clothing.de/products/wool-beige?variant=50282921165066

You're right, unfortunately they use colour names in German, regardless of what nomenclature the producers use. In the case of my sweater it's a taupe or dark natural, not the beige you see on the Gran Sasso website.

They used to at least specify ply count before the new website... and also raised prices quite a bit I think.
Yes, there have been quite some price increases.

I have checked - this particular jumper is a 1-ply, in a weight similar to what Lockie offers.

Could anyone suggest where i might be able find a burgundy (or maroon?) jumper in as rich a shade and quality of cloth as that modelled by Mr Tomasso Capozzoli in the attached picture? It has a warmth and richness to it that i can't seem to find elsewhere..

I am a keen photographer and this image has been warmed up and otherwise -well, but strongly- retouched. Thus I would not consider the tone of the scarf to be authentic to nature.

Does anyone have any experience with Nadaam sweaters? They are in this "budget cashmere" category but seem to use grade A fibers and source directly from goat herders.
Ignore that grading. Grade A these days anyone can achieve easily. Grade A are from C&A ,Naddam, Gobi to really great yarn/knit makers. This grading is outdated.
I would say from "budget cashmere" i would avoid Nadaam, and go Falconeri or with a little extra go straight for Luca Faloni

Thanks for suggestion!

Also, does anyone have recommendations for William Lockie stockists in the EU? Maybe some who stock geelong and super-geelong garments. Thanks!

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that as a possibility. Still, retouched or not, I'd like one in that colour! Surely that's possible, or does retouching create aesthetics/shades/contrasts that simply aren't possible 'in real life'?

Actually it seems a pretty common garnet colour to me, the most producers will have a similar shade.

This reoccurs as a question every few years in this thread, but does anyone have any opinions on how Brora compares to other Scottish manufacturers? They cater more to women, but do carry a limited range of menswear, including some fun styles (for instance, they occasionally have traditional jumpers/sweaters like Fair Isle and lopapeysa in 100% cashmere, which other companies don’t seem to bother with).

I think (but am not sure) that their knitwear is made by Johnston’s of Elgin, or at least used to be. Unless they just source their yarn from there but have their own knitters. Their website says
The mills that make our cashmere were established in 1787 and have been employing local Scottish families for generations
I assume that’s JoE, and maybe the date is a typo? So presumably the quality of their garments is comparable to JoE?

I was looking at this cable knit which is a lot like the William Lockie Chirnside — both 4-ply, made in Scotland, similar price points. WL gets a lot of love here, so I’m guessing that would be the more popular choice, but would love to hear any thoughts or advice!

Thank you - good shout. Do you know what one gets, if anything, from Begg for double the price of a Lockie equivalent? not quite what "knitted slightly out of gauge" means. Shame we get no information on weight or anything else for that matter.
it depends on the yarn they use, for example, depending on the machine you can use 3/28, 4/28, 6/28 etc. yarn for a 5 gauge knit but it might actually become a four or six gauge piece because of the way the machine handles the ends. They could still just measure the final piece and disclose the gauge

Here’s the form

Your ideal garment combo can be mentioned in the last section but it’s not necessary

EDIT, if all you want is a men’s version of the brown one I posted, or in a different color, just share that in the comments
Since some DM’d me, there are discussions with an Italian boutique for a menswear capsule next FW season, until then you’ve gotta specify what you want - an easy approach would be to adjust the women’s pattern for a men’s round neck but that’s up to y’all

Fedeli cashmere would be considered a tier above Luca Faloni's, correct? (in both feel and construction)

Comparing these two caps:

Thank you

Not cashmere, but a classic Breton sailor's sweater in lambswool I bought on my trip to Paris last month, from Le Minor, the last company that still makes them 100% in France (Armor-Lux and St James cut corners). Regular Breton sweaters are too slim-fitting for my less-than-svelte body, but this one is a perfect fit. It also has subtle stripes compared to the regular one, and a little softer as well:

Interestingly, they seem to have an upcoming collab with Monocle.
