I find Porsche drivers tend to be grandma drivers. Rarely do I come across a Porsche driver that is not scared of his car. The few real drivers I've met in Porsches tend to be good guys but the rest are the type to sip light beer at a Scotch tasting.

+1. That part of Laguna (Corkscrew-9-10 complex) is the toughest and most dangerous part of the track. To be able to drift through it on the correct line is pretty damned impressive.

Has it got a solid axle, still? Would you seriously give up a scalpel for a sledgehammer?

I don't think the Corvettes have had a solid rear axle since the 60s. They do have a transverse composite leaf spring for the rear instead of conventional coil springs, which some people mistakenly think is primitive, but has many advantages. I've been a passenger in a C6 Z06 on a very fast track. It rotates better than most sporty cars, but feels a bit weird because the car feels very wide. FWIW, Sabine Schmitz told me that the Corvette is the car she'd want to own, but she's kind of crazy. This was in context of comparing it to the various Porsche 911s, BMWs, and Audi R8s that were hanging out at the Nurburgring.

Solid axle cars can be very, very fast. The sportier Mustangs are really fast around a racetrack.

Porsches are easier on the driving position and feel too, no? By the time one gets old enough to afford a supercar, it's probably more realistic to try getting in and out of a German car than an Italian car.

Porsches are not as high strung as Ferrari's and Lambo's and unless your name is Jon Olsson you don't drive a Ferrari or Lambo in the winter time, you can do that with a Porsche.

Was gonna recommend the e60 m5 until you mentioned smooth shifting auto .

So on that note, I recommend you purchase 3 ZHPs.

Get the newest E63 you can find within that budget

2007/08 M6s are in that price range as are 2010 650s. I dunno why M6 prices are so low or why 650 prices are so ambitious.
