A few cars from cars and coffee...several 911s. A really nice 944S2 Coupe. A friend's black 911 Turbo S, next to a friend's new 911 S/T. First S/T I've seen in person. Really nicely specc'ed. The owner has several air cooled cars, a 993 Turbo S, and has owned various GT models including a GT4, a 992 GT3 for the track, 991.2 GT3, a 991.2 Speedster, and now this. He specc'ed the S/T with the standard seats rather than the sport buckets. He says he's going to really drive this, and he already has track cars, and that no matter what anyone says about how comfortable the sport buckets are, the regular seats are far more comfortable. The owner is super low key and really nice. If I hadn't asked what he drove today, I never would have known this was his new baby. He did the European delivery and said he had a great time driving it in Germany. I think he said, after driving it, it took about 10 weeks to get to the States.

An interesting headache occurred with the Porsche. When I bought it, it had a clean bill of health via Carfax. After my recent service, the shop gave me a free Carfax so I clicked on it expecting the same and now I have 2 damage reports on it.

The first shows mild to moderate front and rear damage then the second shows mild front end damage. I am not really worried given 2 shops have looked it over with no issues but just odd these pop up down the road...

The 992 generation I think is where the
911 has finally gotten too big for me. But that S/T is most likely the peak, what with Andy already saying that regs will only let them do this for another few years.

The 992 GT3 is by far the best GT3 I’ve driven (drove all the base ones, but no RS’s or special stuff like S/T or R). But yeah, the other factors make me want to keep the ones I already have. I wonder if your friend would say the S/T is his best one ever

There have been a few YT videos comparing the R vs the S/T. If I ever had enough money, I'd go with the R. I think the 991 just looks better.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I know sometimes it takes a while for something to show up on Carfax. I know a guy who whenever he has a car that has been hit, he gets if fixed ASAP, and trades it within 2 weeks to try to avoid it appearing on Carfax when he trades it towards something else.

The owner is a super nice guy, who just loves cars and hanging out with car people. He has driven lots of different cars- vintage, modern, and race cars too. He owns a 911 RS that came in 5th or 6th in it's class at LeMans in the 1970's that he races in historic races. He's not into exotics, bought his wife an Aston Vanquish that was a disaster. He's never owned a Carrera GT or 918 Spyder, but I think only because he doesn't want one. I think he has streamlined his Porsche collection down to about 8 cars. When he got his then new "Regular" 993GT3 2 years ago, he basically said its more track car than street car, and said, people thinking they are going to daily drive it, are going to find it far less comfortable for street use than a 991.2 GT3. That said, he loves the 911S/T and said it's the best of the GT cars he had owned.

I think the 992 is larger than what I want a 911 to be, but if money and allocations were no issue, I'd definitely get an S/T. I like its looks, the details such as the aero cutouts, the diffuser, and I like the lines on the hood that have been brought back and are reminiscent of earlier 911s. Plus who can resist that powerplant with a manual transmission?

I'd rather have the 991.2 GT3 Touring over an R. They made the DRL, turn signals, and front spoiler look better and appear more purposeful on the GT3 Touring. The center section of the R's front spoiler hangs down too far and looks odd.

It's like the jaw line for rockem sockem robots was the inspiration...

I've read that the 991.2 GT3 Touring is more rare than the 911R. Supposedly around 600-800 units worldwide for 991.2 GT3 Touring.

I didn't know they were rarer. My entire basis for favoring the 991.2 GT3 were design updates in the "Facelift."

Carfax saga continued. Watched a car Youtuber who advertised CarVertical so I said, what the hell, I'll spend the $30 to check out the car compared to Carfax as maybe something is different. No accidents on CarVertical so I will work to figure out how to remove them from Carfax. A little Googling has shown you can contest the accident history and it does work. I feel a little better now but also find it funny the car gets comped as a standard Cayman vs. a higher level trim.

During the production run i was following this Rennlist thread with some estimates being crowdsourced. No comment on accuracy, but they were arriving at an estimate of 600-800 for North America. It’s more like 1600 worldwide. The 911R, of course, was a well-publicized 991 units worldwide.

The thread also had a PTS car registry which made me tap into my latent Corvette owner tendencies. I found that there are 3 known Viper Green 991 GT3 Tourings, including mine. But the other two have door decals, which of course means……
