My Sti (Ver6) Had a panel filter and an exhaust. Then it was flash tuned by A HKS Dealer with HKS Software. so. . Stage 2? - To be frank, it was stupid fast. (for a daily)

But yes, to my understanding, if you change the inputs to your computer, like air flow velocity etc. You need to flash the computer and tell it. They are fickle cars. and you have to be "about it". Sure, you can bolt on a bunch of stuff. But if you don't flash it, the car will be grumpy.
The factory setup is Cold air intake. it's pretty good. and you'd have to radically customize to get better performance than stock.

They do hate the heat though. Kings of winter.

Update edit: @vdubiv I don't know if you have seen the car i'm talking about.
So here's an old pic:

It ran 0-100kph in approx.4.6 seconds.

I should have done a couple of launches on the miata...
Car just sold...end of an era for me. Shipping company's going to grab it from my parents house today.

Got any pics of the car before it's gone?
That car provided some good thread content.

It definitely did. I think I got advice on buying it here too! Wild to think that was 5 years ago. Learned everything on that car. From doing spark plugs...to swapping motors and learning to tune a little bit. What a ride.

Here's the last picture in my parents driveway.

And all loaded up for the journey to FL.

My mom took a video of the guy loading it up for transport. He stalled it like 5 times. ???.

Now to take a little break and figure out what's next.

Wow! That came out looking great! :thumbs-up:

Yeah, I remember you buying it and asking about mods and stuff. You really did a great job on it.

- noticed all the vents, did you have heat issues with it?

Anyway, well done.
Keen to see what is next.

That picture makes the paint look wayyyy better than it actually is. It's maybe a 7/10.

I wanted to do hood vents to keep things cool as a preventative thing but honestly I regretted it once I moved and didn't have a garage any longer.

But also it would try to overheat every time I ran the AC on a hot day. Definitely needed ducting and an oil cooler.

For now... thinking one of the Brs86 cars, MR2, another miata, or...?
Want to keep something stock and do autocross and track without all the hooplah with a built car.

Guys, I'm a little torn and could use some advice. I recently sold my car (2014 Forester) and am looking to upgrade a bit. I'm okay with paying up a bit, but I want it to be something that'll last. I live in the PNW, spend quite a bit of times outdoors, and am not too concerned with gas mileage, although, I don't want a total gas-guzzler. I'm seriously consider a newer 4Runner, but they're just pretty expensive. Worth it? Your guys thoughts? Any other 4WD/AWD vehicles to consider?

It looks sharp. I met a local guy at a track day last year. We both drove GTI's and he'd been tracking his for 4-5 years. He was knowledgeable and pretty quick. He sold it this winter and went with a '17 Miata for the upcoming season. It's such a great platform for a weekend racer.

Not sure what's on the market there, but you can't go wrong with a Toyota 4x4.
