3-4 a day for me plus a cup of tea here and there. Us aussies love our tea and coffee.

On that note, I have a question for the american guys reading this thread after spending a week in Hawaii recently. Is coffee as bad everywhere in America as it is in Hawaii i.e is it just a culture thing that Americans have not embraced the cafe culture like us/Europe?

The only places I came accross that made proper coffee (out of an espresso machine and frothed milk) were starbucks/coffee bean etc, basically awful chain varieties, and they were all awful! Everywhere else seem to want to pour as much pot coffee down your through as possible, a very quantity over quality approach.

So is this the case all over the US? Do you guys have nice little cafe's where you can read the paper on a sunday and have some really well made coffee? Just interested to know.

Local coffee shops have exploded here in America. Hell, even in my current medium sized midwest city there are probably 6 or 7 (not including sbux) that all serve very high quality coffee where you can sit and relax or take a date to. Small coffee shops are even more popular on the coasts, especially the west coast (Portland, Seattle, etc.).

2 small cups of coffee a day with a little 2% milk and just enough sugar to balance the bitterness. No soda, no red bull. But coffee I can't do without. Even if coffee didn't have caffeine I would drink it.

I do about 3-4 cans of diet soda and maybe a coffee if I'm desperate. I'd like to think this places me on the healthy side of average american.

diet soda is awful for you, depending on who you talk to.

You don't meet many thin people that drink it thats for sure. I just dont drink soft drink these days except on very rare occasions, but coke (not diet) can be really good after a ride or run on a hot day. Coffee, tea, water and the occasional juice is it for me apart from alcohol of course.

+1 diet soda is worse for you than regular soda. Sure, it has less calories but it is full of so many chemicals I would never drink it.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
