I would say he is in a desparate situation which may call for extreme measures. Besides 4K is still well within the means of a large number of population. He just has to grasp the possibility, that's the beautiful thing with shoes. High end cars or houses on the other hand are outside the means of most

You gotta be kiding! I don't have any 4k shoes. What you think I'm a millionaire or something! I don't even have 2k shoes. Well actually I have a pair I bought in the year 2000. Does that qualify?

Regardless, I have picture perfect feet I'd post pictures of them but a bunch of guys oggling over them doesn't seem right somehow.

at the risk of being serious for a moment: i have really bad feet, too. though eccos don't get much love (or any) on this forum, they are the most comfortable shoes i've ever worn and i don't think they're all ugly. certainly not shoe circle pretty, but at least i can walk in them.

Far too much to read in under 20 minutes and whilst you may not want to hear how dreadful square toed shoes look I will reiterate that. Mercifully this fashion will not last long so you really need to work out a long term solution.

I would commend Mr Corbera's solution (no 15).

Go to a Podiatrist to see if your feet need any particular support etc. Then find a pair of basic round-ish toe shoes that you wish you could wear. Not necessarily expensive, and not for you to wear.

Finally, go to a shoemaker. Most cities have at least one. I'm not asking you to go to Lobb. Find a shoemaker, and ask him to build you some shoes that will fit your unique feet, based on the shoes you have brought to him. I suggest taking shoes to the shoemaker as most reasonably priced proprietors may be of a different generation, and perhaps limited in what they buid.

A final option would be to write a very polite letter to all the big American shoe companies (AE, J&M, Cole Haan/Nike - you live in the USA, I think) explaining your predicament. You may be pleasantly surprised at their response and assistance.

Go visit a podiatrist. He may be able to fit you with an orthotic that will work with SF-approved (i.e., non--squared toe) shoes at a price you can afford.

Yeah, see a podiatrist. This is what they do. They find shoes for people who have problem feet. A per Vox's suggestion of that molded shoe company, what podiatrists often do is take a full-foot mold of someone's foot and send it off to have a shoe custom made. No, they probably don't send it to Vass, but then I doubt Vass would take your health insurance, either.

I was thinking of this as well but I think there may be alot of heel and some ball slippage even with the arch support.

This is why I was thinking to go longer but size down in width (unless he also has wide feet as well). To me it just seems that his little toe is far forward of where it would be normally and not more outwardly laterally. This configuration is pretty much that of the true square toe since there is no tapering at the tip of the little toe (distal phalanx).

Which Alden lasts did you try on? One of the lasts from the foot balance system might suit you, but other than the TruBalance last, they would need to be special ordered as I doubt any dealer would have any in stock.
