Wow, let's not get into foreign sweatshop labour, okay? Most people who are against it don't know a single thing about it. If you read any of the studies done by academics, economists, etc., you'd know that the general consensus among the educated is that sweatshops are unfortunate, but that literally no better alternative is possible, and that situations always improve for countries that have had sweatshops, without fail.

As one of those academics you speak of, I must say that this comment is a dreadful generalization that is deeply flawed. Indeed, there is consistent debate around this topic and it includes scholars who have fairly mainstream views when it comes to broader normative views regarding political and economic issues.
