haha anime queers

With that out of the way let me say that I liked the second opening and ending themes of Eureka 7. Macross Frontier has a great soundtrack across the board. The ending theme of Maria Holic deserves special mention since the credits are done in 8-bit arcade game style.

But most anime sucks. Including Bleach. I watched a few episodes and I have no idea why people love it. Then again this is coming from a guy who loved the anime Bartender, which has a great piano soundtrack. And it has BOOZE. You get to see a real bartender make the featured drink of the episode during the ending credits.

The problem is you're watching it. Really only fun if you read it or can struggle through the first few episodes till the funner fights happen. But agreed it is stupid 99% of the time.

I have mixed feelings about anime. On one hand there are some great shows that are basically animated film. On the other hand a lot of it is pure dreck that caters to the otaku lowest common denominator, which hungers for prepubescent magical girl characters with huge breasts and visible panties. Unfortunately, catering to this audience is how money is made in Japan, so they keep making this garbage.

You know if you replace a few words in that last sentence you've basically described every entertainment industry in the world...

I had better mentally prepare myself for that magical girl movie Hollywood's releasing next spring.

But to get back on track, the opening them from Welcome to the NHK is pretty nice. Good show too.

Iria was one of my first anime I rented from Netflix. I think I was in 7th grade. The singing is bad, but I still like the song.

This Toonami intro for DBZ was epic. I remember in high school some kid I ate lunch with bleached his hair so it would coincide on the day they aired the eps when Goku first went SSJ. Last I heard of him he went to college to be an accountant because they "made $150 a hour as soon as they were out of college!"

The intro to Fist of the North Star, the series not the movie. Anything else is garbage!

Typical trite answer, but, yeah, Akira. Best soundtrack hands down.

Doesn't really have a traditional "theme song" though, which I assume is why it wasn't included in the discussion. Having a great soundtrack and having a great theme are not always the same thing. Bladerunner = great soundtrack Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Bond/Rocky = Great "theme songs".

When we were young, my brother used to pay, like, $30 a pop for these VHS tapes at Suncoast:

I always thought of the track "Kaneda" as being the movie's theme song. No one can think of Akira without "Tetsuo! Kaneda!..." popping into their heads instantly and having visions of large, bald, black bikers running over peoples' arms.
